How are you getting on?
I agree the Nait50 is so beautifully articulated in its bass resolution.. it’s completely infectious, the Red50s seem to work well in my room on SolidSteel stands.. and bizarre sub bass .. where you feel the vibration in the floor..
The RK120s were good, but didn’t gel for my tastes..
I am sure the RK50SEs are outstanding, but given how good the standard 50s are on the SolidSteel stands, I feel it will be very much diminishing returns…
How to get on…Good question. I became aware of the Russel K red 50 (se) through your posts in the forum and your experience with the Nait 50/Cord Dave. I was not familiar with this brand before, which is not very widespread in Switzerland.
At the moment, the Red50se have not yet been officially launched and the price in Switzerland has not yet been set. I hope they won’t be overpriced.
I think a home demo would be a good option when they are available. One advantage would be that I could probably keep my Solidsteel SS6 (with Isoacoustics Gaia III). I also like the look of them very much and I only bought them 2 years ago. But I’m not sure if they’re not too low for the small Red50 or if SS7 stands with 70 cam height are needed to bring them to ear height. In the end, a home demo would also have to show how they work in my room (17 square meters), also with the electronics (Nait50, NDac/XPS, Tellurium Ultra Black II Speaker Cables). But they remain one of my big favorites (next to the Franco Serblin Accords, which are much more expensive)
And yes, in the end, normal red50s are also an alternative, which are also quite inexpensive in comparison. In a direct comparison at the dealer, however, the Red50s were clearly superior.
agh yes - the Red50s in my opinion are more for mid to near field listening for that 3D imaging that allows some recordings to envelope around you. I listen about 3 to 4 metres from mine.
If you prefer mid to far field then the RK150s would I suggest be the speaker of consideration.
Would be curious too.
By the way Revival Audio speakers are not usual partner for naim amp….at least no post mentioning them
Have thought challenging my Falcon Gold badge with them…but as ported….i prefer sealed box now (easier to deal with in a relative small room ….circa 20 m2)
The Neat SX3 is discontinued, hence the good offers. My observation is that’s a tiny speaker with limited bass extension, so worth checking it can work in your room… otherwise you might not be getting all the benefit of the N50.
The N50 can drive sub bass and powerful bass dynamics into speakers if that’s what you want … as long as you don’t require very loud levels into large rooms or very inefficient speakers… but the N50 has a significant peak power reserve of over 200 Watts.
it’s to be used in my home office.
a narrow close field listening scenario, rather than a large lounge area.
room 3m x 3.4m, speakers 1.8m apart, listening 2.4m from front grilles.
Those Neat SX3 do look good at the price. I use JBL 4309 at a similar distance and am curious to try them with a Nait 50. They too are available at a discount right now and are really impressive.
I’m using the ATC7’s in a second system and find them superb. I’m useless at describing but they’re very clear and detailed with enough bass. I wholeheartedly recommend them.
