Nap 500DR run in

So jealous that you have the DBLs. It’s probably the only speaker I’d replace my Harbeths with. I just can’t accommodate them right now :frowning:

Maybe Julian knew something you don’t.

I am sure he does.
Lol
But to just add, all my dcs kit has a temperature display you can look at, and all took about a day to fully warm up from stone cold, and that was just in standby, plus they hardly draw any current.
An amp especially when being used is the opposite to say a dac, pre amp or what ever as far as current needed to work, and therefore warms up miles faster than the rest. Thats why they need big heat sinks to get rid off the heat they generate, so saying it takes days or weeks to warm up is simply silly in my eyes.

But as said we all think differently, and that’s fine.

Thanks. I’ve been lucky. Right place, right time thing! They never cease to amaze me. The closest I’ve had that gives a similar effect are Linn Kan’s. DBL’s are these but with bass and scale! Mine are quite a late pair, although I’ve already had to have the bass units re-foamed! They actually blend quite well into my front room. I’ve never had a single visitor question what they are.

Absolutely agree, my DBL´s are also fantastic ! I hope Naim will start to make speakers again.I sadly don’t have a 500 system anymore, but they do deliver with Nac82/SC/Nap250.

I’d love to see a photo if you don’t mind. Just love looking at it. lol

The gloss black is so sexy on the DBLs but the real wood veneers are also very nice

Yes and they look a little less intrusive in the room in Piano black, as the walls reflects in them.

I’d love to hear DBLs one day :raised_hands:

Is there a new 500 dr or it’s just the white logo?

The NAP 500 now features the new NA009 transistors first introduced in Statement. In development for over a year, this key component was created in partnership with a specialist semi-conductor manufacturer to achieve the best possible sound quality

A new white logo (green still available to order).

Day three since the magic happened. Im so happy with the 500DR😃it’s made me think considering how good this is it’s very likely even the non DR would’ve been amazing for me. I now understand what people meant by the grip that this amp has on speakers. It’s really making light work of my Harbeths which I always believed to be hard to drive- if you wanted bass and dynamics. This amp is giving all of that but its the delicacy in the midrange that really impresses. The tone is even more sweeter than it was on my first start up (when the dynamics were lacking).

I know I should just enjoy the music now but I can’t help but wonder - What if I try out some speaker cables. Perhaps now my experience will be different considering the uplift in sound quality.

Currently my 8.5m lengths of NAC A5 with Chord Ohmic plugs are sounding amazing but I do remember that I really liked what the Chord Epic XL did in my system. I should point out that I did end up choosing the NAC A5 with the 135s for its more natural but slightly grainy sound.

Is there a more popular speaker cable with the 500series. Super lumina maybe?

Okay mate, I know it’s good but I’ve done enough damage this year, the 300 is fine as well. End of

Congratulations ! I tried Chord Signature XL with my Nap 500,but much preferred the NacA5.

(@Richard.Dane). Presumably Richard if buying 2nd hand you should check the serial number to identify whether it’s a post Statement model?

A DR unit would likely have the DR logo on the back. If a DR upgraded unit then a serial number check with Naim should tell one way or other.

Nah, from 2015 the upgrade to DR and 009 was done, if I am correctly informed.
