could be… but the 500 DR went through its own Jekyll & Hyde transformation lol
Same here with thick and stiff Acrolink power cords.
Same here with thick and stiff Neotech 3200 and The Grand. However when they settle. They sound fantastic. I guess it’s the same with the burndies.
Just in case a future reader is interested, I wanted to give an update on the amplifier. The last few days I’ve noticed a further improvement in the sound. This is more difficult to explain though. The sound is more liquid. It is just flowing so superbly. I first noticed it a few days ago but as it was a late night low volume listening session, I didn’t make too much of it. The following day and today I was able to have a proper listen.
So yes there is further improvement in the ‘run in’ on the 500DR now a month on since my jaw first hit the floor. It isn’t as big as the last one but the way the sound is flowing through my speakers is so good.
The treble is sweet and superbly articulate. The bass is snappy, punchy, rhythmic, extended and whatever else you may want from bass. I love how that glorious midrange I loved about the NAP 135s isn’t lost. The difference here though is that the spotlight isn’t only on the midrange, it’s across the entire frequency band.
Thanks for the update, I am interested. I had a new 500DR installed in September. I haven’t been able to play it 24/7 although it is powered up 24/7. Still burning in!
A Nap 500 dr to buy? Yes we khan !
I know exactly what you mean
This is where I ended up. I did have them at 23cm from memory and it was fun for a while but I found the bass a bit too much when the novelty of all that boom and thunder wore off!
That’s exactly where I’ve got my 707’s
TBH I reckon they could go back a smidge and open up the bass a touch. But it’s a fine line…
Hang on I posted that on the wrong thread
Its going back a bit for me … but it took around 6 months…the 1st 4 to 6 weeks…saw more detail, spatial clues and more refinement. Gradually as time goes on more and more bass impact…develops with a much better sense of texture… sounding more powerful…and ultimately better percieved stereo depth becomes apparent…thats the best I can recall…
One thing that I notice more than anything now is that the timing is just perfect. All naim amps time well but the fact that I notice it so much more on the 500dr just shows how accomplished this amp is.
You were really thinking about the 500 DR, I know you
I already took that plunge remember
But are you happy with it though? I sense some doubt for some reason or t’other
I was surprised the 500dr compared very well against the Statement…I had a good listen at the factory…it was surprising…its an amazing amp.
I should stop reading…
Yep….considering the price difference, we should not be having the discussion.
But if i won lotto😂
