Nap500

Im sure the 500 won’t drop in value at all. They are still a fantastic amp, and at half the price of the dr one they will have a healthy market forever as naim amps always have done.

I’d be really interested to hear how it shapes up as I would consider the same path some time in the near future. Hope it’s great and brings a smile to you face when you get it hooked up! :+1:

I think in 10 years time it may well be a good idea to get naim kit serviced elsewhere. Maybe it will be a necessity who knows

Can’t talk about modifications on here, plus the 500dr upgrade is to the amplifier itself not the power supply and inside are all new as in different boards etc, hardly anything is left of the old 500

Currently Witch Hat don’t even service the 500. They go upto 300. Things may change. Discussion of non Naim service agents is not permitted on this site by the way. They are not authorised agents. Darran at Class A is and doesn’t service the 500 either, or the 300 for that matter.

Hopefully Naim will restart the DR upgrades at some point.

Would be better for customer satisfaction and more environmentally friendly.

The way things are going maybe that will expand naturally. Who knows, maybe Naim will have no interest to service stuff in the future

I am sure naim will carry on servicing what they can as it brings in good revenue

Well if a sensible and cheaper service can be had elsewhere then they will for sure have a market that moves elsewhere. Im sure any competent technician can change the condensors. A decent technician will not want to stay at Naim forever. Natural turnover and a need to have a career…

I think expansion is possible. But Naim will always service.

It also keeps resale values high, which is good for the brand….

I suspect Darran is more than qualified to service the 300 / 500 amps not sure why Naim don’t permit as this would make things easier as you can personally drop kit off with Darran unlike the messing around via the dealer network.

Anyway @Stu299 when is the BIG day for your 500?

I’ve been out fishing since Thu eve :fishing_pole_and_fish:

In two minds whether to head back home today or tomorrow. The 500 is calling me :grimacing:

Slightly off topic but much more important
Where are you fishing and what have you caught

The NAP500 head unit casework is not the easiest item to take apart and then put back together again - certainly I wouldn’t want to do so. IIRC Naim have specialists dedicated to the job in the factory. The other NAPs are a doddle by comparison.

For me the aesthetics of the 500 make it even more compelling :sunglasses:

I’m on a 90 acre lake in Reading, renowned for big carp. And yet I’ve managed to catch a 12lber, surely one of the smallest in the lake :joy:
