My point is pretty easy to understand and it had nothing to do with shaming anyone. You, who currently owns one Naim box, is telling someone with tons of Naim boxes to leave an open forum simply because you don’t like their position on a certain topic. As if that person isn’t welcome, even though they generally like and support the brand. I own an Atom HE. I wasn’t disparaging it. Although, I think you knew that and were just playing the spin game in an attempt to victimize yourself, which it seems a lot of people were happy to embrace.
Congratulations on your previous Naim ownership. That still doesn’t change the fact that you’re a perfect example to support my argument. Customers want more SQ from less boxes. Moving on.
Wondering why someone hangs around is not the same as suggesting they leave. And it’s fewer boxes, not less.

Thank you for confirming I’m not an AI creation which is an insane thing to assume in the first place. The things people come up with to help themselves rationalize someone not bowing to the Naim alter at every turn is insane.
This would have been a great opportunity to explain why you left Naim. I’m not sure why you didn’t choose to share. From what I remember, you were sick of the never ending upgrades, continually having to add more boxes, and the pressure you felt from this forum to upgrade every time you came here. You left the Naim equipment behind years ago and still haven’t came back. You’re another great example.

Perhaps it’s more of a Zeitgeist thing. People visit places where they don’t like it themselves, debating with the residents that they shouldn’t like it there either. In older days one just wouldn’t go there and leave everyone be. Now one has to endure being called a cult for liking it here, and being in need of a wake-up call to the other’s opinion. Something I don’t quite understand or feel comfortable with, but as said it appears to be a sign of the times.

Personally I find some of the comments from non Naim owners here (and there are many) to be the most interesting and of value. Especially because I have a lot of gear and systems that aren’t Naim in my collection and I’m really enthusiastic about them. But most of the comments from members are fairly well measured and balanced and don’t conflate preference or opinion with fact.
I mean, if you are used to living in a farmhouse with muddy boots and then visit someone’s house with nice carpets, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise if they are offended when you refuse to take off your shoes. … and then being offended because they are offended.
I find that you can pretty much express any view you like on the forum without causing a ruckus. It’s not what one says but how one says it.

You are welcome. You summed up why I left Naim in a nutshell, my next upgrade would have been a 555 DR. In Canada, they were about $17 K new, so I moved to a used Nagra Integrated.
I will bow out of the back and forth that you find yourself in.

If you dont have 2 ethernet cables to connect both at the same time you can do it this was.
Chose the track you want to play on the nd555 and play it, before the track has finished if you stop it, then swap ethernet cables over you can then play the same track into the ndx5 and start the same track playing on the nd555 and compare then in real time by switching over inputs on the pre amp.
The reason for this is because the nd555 will download the complete track into its buffer and play from that as normal, i guess you can also do it the other way round ad well.
The older streamers like the NDS wont as they dont have as bigger buffer and continue to download the track as its playing.
Hope that has explained it clearly and have fun try them in real time, the only way to do it.

I am on this forum because my system contains an XS3… yes I have other items in the setup that are not Naim but I consider the XS3 as the heart of the system and I/we love it
I hope Naim will carry on with the XS range but if they don’t I’m still keeping the XS3 for the foreseeable as it sounds so good
I paid £1k’ish for the XS3 and it’s turned out to be one of my best hifi purchases ever. White logo version manufactured last year so is pretty ‘fresh’ and probably only just run in
I don’t believe I could spend £1k’ish and better the XS3 and, to be honest, I’m not even looking

As I have mentionned a few times on this forum, I have really soured on high end audio. Including, but certainly not limited to Naim.
I just don’t see the model of producing overbuilt and overspecced, not to mention over priced boxes to be sustainable in this day and age. I spent a lot of money on this hobby, only to learn some hard lessons.
The differences for sound quality in expensive and budget gear is minimal. Diminishing returns really kick in quickly. External power supplies are a cool idea, but did not equate to better sound quality in my experience. Cables, don’t even get me started on expensive cables.
I went down the rabbit hole of cables. I told myself they were better, and even convinced myself for a while.
I am really happy to be off of the high end merry go round. I still very much like posting here. I find the people on this forum interesting and knowledgeable about a great many things. I like to talk F1, photography and movies, to name a few, with others on this forum.
Although I criticise Naim and other high end brands, I would never tell someone what to buy, or not buy. I will give people my personal experience, but the choices they make are their own.

If the team up with Focal proves to be unsuccessful for Naim that would be such a shame as Naim has been around for years producing great kit
I am absolutely sure Naim knows what they need to do going forward but whether the tie up with Focal allows them to do that I have no clue

Naim teamed up with Focal in 2011 and they did it because of financial constraints). We are in 2026. This means that 1/3rd of Naim’s existence they have partnered with Focal. I would say it’s successful. Let’s face it, Naim is the issue, Focal is doing fine. I say as somebody who has owned Naim for 44 years and has never owned a focal until last year (a Bathys headphone which is fantastic after it breaks in for a while).

Somehow Naim needs to become profitable again as they definitely can’t continue making a loss as that’s just not sustainable for too long
We have all seen many Naim products being discontinued and, to me, that’s not a good sign unless they have some great replacements coming up very soon
