My streaming journey started around 1998 with RealAudio and using a music server on a PC. All worked rather well I seem to remember… though back then you genuinely needed to be reasonably IT literate unlike now
Now you just need to be a certified network engineer

Yes I seem to remember Napster just started coming in… but I only had dial up like nearly everyone did who had an internet connection back them which relatively wasn’t that many in the UK, so I didn’t really use it much…
Correction.. at that time I had a 64K ISDN… my dialup was pre 1994.

Whoua! If it’s true, the Nac 552/300dr , at quite 6 time the cost, is the poorest value in the audio history.
Or maybe, as you sold the 552/300 already, you have convinced yourself what you have now is the best, as most people do.
I would more believe that the I70 is better on some aspects as timber, true tones and naturalness.
But doubt strongly on general dynamics, impact, and bass extension.
Managed to get another ethernet cable run to the hifi rack. Setup was relatively straight forward but had visions of using the app to press play for the XS2 while pressing play on the remote at the same time for the XS… then realised it would be much easier to multiroom group them! Perfect sync and you just swap inputs on the amp.
First impressions are that the XS2 is clearer and more detailed. Possibly it’s slightly louder, and I may be able to fix that with the gain on the pre-amp, but I’d say there’s a clear difference. Which is a relief on two counts, one my ears aren’t as knackered as I’d feared and two, the system had a bit more headroom to reveal any differences.
So now a couple of glasses of red wine and some listening beckons

Beware of A/B comparisons where you can easily switch between two components. Better by far to set one device up properly, listen to it for a while, then swap the to the other one, relax and enjoy it for at least a few days, then change back again.
Also check that your setup is optimal:
The ground switches on the streamers need to be set correctly.
Multiroom is not lossless, so it’s not optimal.
Stacking boxes is best avoided - just install one properly, then swap it.
