May I ask if you were charged the band 1 sundry item (legacy product updates) fee or the actual service fee for a band 6 legacy streamer/digital?

Maybe it’s telling you to get a new DAC… Maybe a Chord? Then send your DAC back to Naim and ask them to fix it, since it was their software that bricked it.
@wardy the information provided by our tech support was not inaccurate - you should be able to change the f/w to any version you like (including backwards).
The nDAC is a fussy customer when it comes to USB hardware - partitions, size, formatting etc.
Where abouts in the world are you?
I could perhaps, organise getting a tried & tested USB update stick sent to you to try?
(Obviously don’t divulge any personal details here).

Thanks for the reply, if you can send me a known good USB that would be fantastic.
Perhaps @Richard.Dane could pass you my e-mail address and we can sort something out.
I’m up north, my nearest dealer is probably Moorgate Acoustics in Sheffield but I can get to Manchester pretty easily too.
It would be great if this can be sorted without having to ship it down to HQ but I’d be happy to take it in to Moorgate/Class A if needs be.

Correct, he doesn’t.
The work will just be trying Neil’s magic stick in the usb sockets to retry the firmware update procedure with crossed fingers.
If that doesn’t work I guess it will be going to Naim HQ.

@wardy little update for you - USB stick, complete with instructions should now be winging its way to Darran, who is expecting it.

I spoke to Darran today, all is arranged.
It was already going in for some cosmetic work before this calamity happened.
So fingers crossed I’ll soon have a working, updated and tidy looking DAC!
