“ However, I was very satisfied with my three-switch system (the AQVOX SE cascaded on Silent Angel’s N16 double switch). After scouring many high-end switches, I had found an interesting form of sound compromise with this combination: it allowed me to go much further than my previous Waversa SmartHub switch, and without bothering with the lifespan and the somewhat capricious recharges of lithium batteries. Having recently been able to try at length the combination of the Genesis clock and the Silent Angel Bonn NX switch, my personal stunt remained competitive without synchronising my devices with an external clock. And even if I recognise that the Silent Angel switch went a little further with the Genesis external clock than with its own internal clock, this association had not decided me to take the plunge, the performance gap not being sufficient to my ears to question my personal system.
With the LHY SW-10 switch connected to one of the four BNC ports of the OP21A-D, this performance gap is now much more pronounced. Difficult to go back with my personal stunt, and I finally fell for this combination. The contribution of the OP21A-D to the LHY SW-10 switch affects all the criteria: better definition, better dynamics, more varied and realistic timbres, an even more structured sound stage with a better relief. Recall for the good form that the LHY SW-10 switch already hosts the very good OCXO OCK-2 house clock. The significant contribution of the Cybershaft clock is therefore a real performance”
Just checking back to let you know that your assistance on setup of the Optical Rendu was very helpful. My NDS is very happy acting as a renderer of Tidal via Roon using the Sonore Bridge with Roon squeezebox activated. No S/PDIF needed as per your experience. It’s running Sonore V 2.8 at present and seems very stable. Not sure what was wrong with my previous Ultrarendu setup but I could never get that to work. I would say to audio quality is superior to my previous best case scenario - NDX 2 using Naim Digital BNC to NDS for Tidal and superior to using the Naim app for Tidal on the NDS. ( blacker more robust base and better timbre of instruments/soundstage overall)
Fantastic, great to know your revised setup works well & better than a S/PDIF based approach.
There was some improvements made with SonicOrbiterOS 2.9 but I wasn’t sure they affected the use of the SonoreUPnP Bridge app which runs purely in the Ethernet domain.
However easy to get a separate SD card with 2.9 and see.
I don’t believe there have been any updates to the 2.9 release that have impacted use of the SonoreUPnP Bridge, so it will remain a solid platform to “Roon-ify” your NDS in the best way possible and probably better for a Roon environment than a ND555, plus without the high upgrade cost.
Roon is unlikely to touch the Squeezebox mode on its platform, plus many claim it sounds better than their own RAAT protocol.
And with NDS firmware stable, after all the SQ optimisations made years ago, no chance an irreversible OTA update kills the SQ leaving you waiting, for years, on a further firmware updates, with no certainty of a resolution
I have a question for @Blackbird or even some tekies here.
I am buying a Lumin U2 mini, ex demo. I know there’s an adapter to go with Sbooster and also Farad super 3. I would like more an Ifi elite power, but will the adapter work with it?
Hi Blackbird,
I installed the Lumin U2 mini. I see Qobuz and my library.
But no sound.
I connected the Chord BNC from Lumin BNC to Nds digital imput.
I enabled before the Naïm digital X 3 on the Naïm Nds.
On Lumin I enabled Spdif and BNC out.
Don’t see other options.

Maybe reboot both boxes once you set the correct in/out. And make sure you put the BNC IN on the right input on NDS. In and Out are close to each other. It’s the upper (closest to you) BNC that is IN when looking from above and down.
If I remember correctly all outputs are always enabled and the was no config. Any sample-rate above 192 was downsampled. So any 75-ohm BNC should work but it was some time ago I used it.
