I think that there is some truth in it - with the „thin“ blanket being part of the vinyl smooth nds sound. But this comes with smooth textures also.
And there are ways to get rid of the blanket with nds - 2nd ps is one others are also possible (tbd elsewhere)
Lovely picture - same angle as your 500 fan picture ![]()
Think the PN might be a good addition now - adds earthiness
My first impression is I didn’t loose that. It’s more that 333+300 adds to it in terms of better details, transients, dynamics and all that. Like a 2025 made NDS.
Maybe the 333 suffers less from fw issues? Good to hear that there are similarities in signature. Nds and nd555 are currently not really similar in signature - this I can tell (my ears …)
lol - this could be me… yes room is bright. But nd555 on 3.8 did the job… think we had that already.
Nds with second ps is a huge step! A really huge one! All what you have described above. And…
But 333 plus ps is a fine bargain as it seems
Yes, the 333 is more transparent and clear, so Nds has this thin blanket.
Still curious to know if BB finds the Nds fuller and more organic.
For now we have only pros from 333 and coins from Nds.
No - we don’t. Vinyl smooth is a pro ![]()
NDS is mote organic … I am sure of that. But organic has a different meaning to us hear I think.
I didn’t react on loosing out on this in my first test which I should have if it was a big change. Changing feet on the speakers to Auva 50 was much worse in loosing out on that for example.
Will focus on this specifically next time. Now it’s NSS333 + 300 rest of the day ![]()
Thanks.
I found Nd555 and 333/300 sounding different. But you know it, I have already shared. The Nd555 is voiced like Nds, ( was voiced more precisely, with 3.8) with just more authority and grip , globally.
You don’t regret the Nds apparently, so you won on this blind purchase.
Enjoy.
I mean from BB description.
As always it’s the balance between attack, grip, detail, soundstage… (but HF energy with some push in it) and smoothness, organic signature and relaxed listening
What is organic to you guys? Can it still have detailed top end but warmth and body in low/mids? Or must it have rolled off top end?
Also, if the new 2-300 series sound anything like my Nait 50 in the top end then they IMO do top end better than old series. More nimble, airy, detailed and less “harsh” and hard on ear. If true then I think mixing OC and NC might be bit sensitive. Just a thought.
Master question. In my opinion top end energy contradicts organic signature. But…
Nait 50 has perse a smooth top end!
I think it can be both
It depends on how the top end is integrated with the rest. There is forward top end that is hard and tough on ears. Fatigue. Then there is top end with details and air which is easy on ear. I guess when done right the ear doesn’t have to work on managing distorsion and bad information and just focus on the good things.
If you want more rolled off top end with less details then it’s NDS and not NSS333+300. I never thought of NDS as dull though so it depends as always where the reference point is. Which is a moving target ![]()
Do I remember correct in that you bought Ansuz A3 Switch and Ansuz Ethernet D2 cable which you now have sold?
XTC switch and D3 ethernet cable. I’ve sold the cable and the switch will hopefully sell soon.
Organic = full= meat on the bones= contrary of thin.
NSS333-300 does not sound thin in my system at least
I didn’t feel any loss of all that when switching from NDS to NSS333. Slam, bottom end, dynamics, groove, bass and all is still there.
Remember that you done a change in amp - a big one … or a small one ![]()
For sure. How could that affect the NDS vs NSS333 result I point out you mean? ![]()
