NDS vs NSS 333

Blackbird, you bet!

Have you tried ND555 and starting all over with everything around it? I mean, all cables, switches etc. Like a master reset. I think you might be surprised. I’m starting to think Naim purposely tweaked ND555 to compete with NSS333 and if that is true a more simplistic front end might work better. Worth a try if you haven’t done it. Be openminded

No - that will bring me into mental state. And why should I - I tried omega, diamond, vodka and catsnake. But I will not go the complete game again, as I am convinced with all my heart that there is still something wrong with 3.11 - the glare is there!
The nds was a revelation beginning this year. A recent update brought the nds on the next level. Really different and much more prat. Too much for me?

If nss333 is somewhere near 3.11 on nd555 it is not my machine. I don’t like the ā€žimpress me soundā€œ. And naim did not do it on purpose - I am convinced

It’s not, according to me at least

Regarding simplistic front end. Nice idea …
But what does all the stuff do we bought (switch and expensive cables) - extract noise!
When we let them go we bring noise in again and might dull / tame the things not right (e.g. fw). I have tested catsnake. Much smoother - so is c-stream. But sigma is a texture machine. This is all gone then.

You like the sound as if you are sitting front row as I remember. I am more the sofa type.

So is NDS  Whatever makes the boat float. Don’t overthink it and put products in categories and lock them into that category forever. Why things work in certain positions and setups is and not in others are pretty much unknown territory. Add to that noise shaping and it all becomes very complex. All cables are filters of some kind, cheap and expensive ones. I believe it’s not always that expensive is better. It’s more about synergy than price and models. And if something change in one position you might need to re-tweak other positions to get to a similar point or better.

Not anymore

There is an nss333 on German Kleinanzeigen

I will consider different options when ready. Won’t be this year. Got too much on. Buying pre owned always makes more sense.

Enjoying current set up with ND555 and 500/552 DR. Speakers and subs sound fantastic.

System is complete as it is!

But, as I change and grow as a person my needs for system changes develop!

I’m glad you are enjoying the NSS333. Awesome looking kit too! So, have you got NDS set up simultaneously, so you can switch between both sources? And compare?

Yupp, just have to change one lavender to the other lavender :+1: Done in 10s.

Yeah, well I was speaking my mind. Which is what I do. Some will like it, some won’t!

I’m not going to be anything other than my good self as always! :muscle:

Haven’t used lavender for some time. It came with my ND5XS2. Using Superlumina. Had 2.5m, but sold it and got 1.5m version.

Have had 2 Hi lines. Good cables also. Went full loom Superlumina which was very costly but great.

Are you using Naca 5?

Have you tried the NSS333 without the NPX300 yet ?

Nope not yet. I want it to heat up and deliver properly first  This weekend maybe. The retailer told me NPX300 adds richness to the sound.

I agree, but ā€˜un-tweaking’ is how I’d describe it. Like you, I divested myself of boutique switches and cables some months ago, and the result is a better sounding player.

It was sound tested for market using a ā€˜basic’ well engineered switch and cables?

I think you are doing a great ā€jobā€ here. Always polite, always good comments or theories.

I was just trying to use a little bit of humor and actually make fun of myself. So I didn’t mean to say anything bad about anyone or their preferences.
