Nice NDX2 review here:
The SN3’s power supply is what powers it and it’s always working. There is no ‘power’ connection between the two boxes. Maybe that isn’t what you are asking. Anyway, I’d suggest you just accept that the SN3 will have a few moments as it runs it. Don’t get paranoid about it and just enjoy the music. Most of the run in will happen over the first week or so.
Excellent and exactly as I hear it. It’s a wonderful machine.

Something about It is reminding me of my CDS3…

I really like the display screen on NDX 2, it somehow adds a touch of emotion and warmth to what is a relatively cold black box full of electronics…
SN3 really beginning to shine this evening, still very early days but the subtlety and detail is fantastic and that’s still using the Nova as source, just goes to show how good the streamer and preamp is in the Nova

So are you using the Nova pre into SN3 power amp? When I had a Superuniti (predecessor to the Nova) I thought its preamp was its weak point.
Yep connected up in av bypass mode whilst waiting for NDX2, perhaps things have moved on a bit since the SU.
The “weakest” point of the Nova is the amp part for me. I added a NAP 250 with great improvement on soundstage.
The reason I mentioned this is that I was in the relatively unusual position of using my Superuniti as a preamp only. I upgraded it to NDX/282/200DR, by adding the 200DR to the SU first, then the NDX. At this point, I was beginning to wonder if I had wasted my money, and it was only when I added in the 282 that it all came together. It would be interesting to run the same experiment with the Nova.

For those requesting an SN3 review. Just out today…
Over the weekend a XPS DR was added to the NDX 2. I had the demo unit for a couple of weeks and went ahead and placed an order with the dealer for the XPS and a shelf for the Quadraspire Q4EVO rack. Dealer dropped by on Saturday and installed the XPS DR and shelf and picked up the demo unit.
I did place a photo in the 2019 systems thread and will put it in here as well. I enjoy this thread and hopefully members with the NDX/NDX 2 & SN continue to contribute.
The NDX 2 and SN2 is quite a nice musical combination. Adding the XPS DR provided a lovely uplift in performance. Well worth a demo but would only do it if you have the money to spend. If you listen you will want to add it to your system.
The XPS looks at home in the rack
Looks an elegant low box count system @seakayaker
Can’t see me replacing my SN2 in a hurry, though the NDX did get superceded by an NDS earlier this year.
How do you find the S400s perform on the end of the NDX2/SN2 by the way?

I have had the S400’s for a little over 2 years. The first five months were with an XS 2 and thought they were wonderful. When I upgraded to the SN 2 they opened up a bit more. I have found them to be a real pleasure and work well in my living room environment.
They also pleased the wife since she thought they looked elegant and fit into the room.
As a side comment, I have also listened to ATC, Harbeth, and ProAc speakers since my dealer carries them and felt I could be happy with them and the SN 2 as well. It is great to have choices!
I never heard any hence my curiosity, only S600s and S800s, but was always aware of the polarised views surrounding Ovators.
I think they look great and it’s awesome that you are more than satisfied with first the XS2 and now the SN2 driving them.
Enjoy!
…name any speaker and you will find a polarized view.
That is why the advice from so many is “listen for yourself, in your own room to be absolutely sure.”
The S-400’s are very nice and I’m very happy with them but at some point I may just try something else.
…thanks for your kind words.
Is that second shelf from the bottom empty? If so, just place a little ole hicap DR in there when funds allow.
…it is on my mind.
I want to give the XPS DR a chance to settle in before a demo of a HiCap DR. Need to practice patience for the time being, perhaps November for my birthday, or December and the holiday season, in the meantime need to practice patience.
