Is there a Melco dealer within 10 minutes?

There may be but I have never looked for oneā€¦

Very wise!
I havenā€™t yet got a NAS at all - still happy just streaming.

I had a CD player with the NAS and could not tell the difference. when playing music from the CD player vs streaming music from the NAS. One less box on the rack and a much more convenient way to play music from the iPad vs the activity playing an album with the CD player.

Not to sure of your streaming source. Currently I stream music from the NAS, TIDAL and Internet Radio. I use TIDAL to play music I do not own and if I find an album I like I often buy the CD, rip it to the NAS. I also use TIDAL streaming as a source at work and when traveling.

I stream Tidal into a 272/555DR.
Am tempted to get an NDX2 or NDS and an SN2 or 3 plus hicap?
Or a Melco or Innuous?
Or some Kudos Titan 505s?

Likewise I find Quboz SQ smoother than Tidal SQ with MacBook Air/Audirvana.

Just added a pre-loved Superlumina between the NDX2 and SN2. Holly molly. Oh, thatā€™s tightened up the bassā€¦ super quite noise floor. Gosh, very solid and concise. Thatā€™s just the first impressions.

Whatā€™s the verdict then Mike?

Er, yes, okay so. Well, itā€™s an instantly noticeable upgrade. First impact was a much tighter and controlled bass, but really thatā€™s across the mids and high end too. Treble for example, is really life like and sparkly, with separation around cymbals etc. Then there is the soundstage, wider, and a new depth that is more noticeable than my previous upgrades. And then there is the noise floor. Noise floors are funny, you think you have inky black darkness, then you bang in a Superline and itā€™s even darker! More resolution and separation as a result.

Headphone listening is also a step up too, itā€™s really resolved by decision to stick with the SN headphone stage now, as the HD800ā€™s are now sublime.

How a interconnect can achieve this is quite remarkable really, but there you go. I was lucky to get a pre-loved one. New is a very expensive upgrade. But seriously, this is about as a big step up as adding the XPS DR to the SN2 was, and no more boxes. May have to think about a full loom with the speakers itā€™s that good :flushed:.

Thereā€™s a pre-loved Powerline coming tomorrow from the same system, so that will go on the XPS DR. Next years budget blown alreadyā€¦

Agree. Was so impressed with the SL interconnect, probably the most impressed out of any upgrade Ive made to my system. Got an ex demo one too at a much lower price, so seemed too good an opportunity to miss. Bought blind without hearing. Was so happy when I plugged it in

Just what I wanted to hear guys. Iā€™ve just ordered a new NDX2 to go with my Supernait2 and hicap DR. Currently use a HiLine but have accepted a ex demo SL interconnect and 2 more Powerlines. So all boxes will have them now. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Just so you know powerlines were a bit overbearing on my SN3 and NDX2 to start with. Took a couple of days to settleā€¦

Maybe just replace the SL initially to see the difference, I used it to replace the original lavender interconnect

Interesting, I have swapped the one I currently have between the boxes and hadnā€™t experienced that.

So, having added the Superlumina interconnect, a Powerline to the XPS DR and a Chord Shawline from my Timecapsule to the NDX2, Iā€™m blown away as to how much more musicality and delivery the SN2 gives. Everything upgraded in terms of source and delivery shows big results, the amp just does what it needs to do

So, Iā€™m wondering now, that the SN2 really is more than capable of amp duties when matched with appropriate speakers and that additional separate pre/power options will be very much in the region of dismissing returns. Even Superlumina speaker cables and maxing out with PowerLines might deliver more than changing the amplification.

Iā€™m pretty impressed with how much can be squeezed out of the SN2. Happy days.

I have been considering going from NACA5 to Superlumina on my SN2. It is expensive, but I wonder if it would be worth it?

@NO-QUARTER may know?

Sorry Mike, when I owned the SN2 I did not use either cables, I was using Nordost Heimdall 11 that I had in my home theatre room. I got the NACA5 after upgrading to the 272/XPSDR/250DR, then upgraded to SL speaker cables from there. I did like what the SL cable did over the A5, but I also added the SL Din to XLR at the same time, so hard to say exactly what each cable brought, but the full loom was excellent.

With you on this Mike. You tempted to try a dedicated rack somehow?
This is the thing, there is always more to give via what you have.

Probably not, I prefer the aesthetics of a cabinet in our lounge and being able to hide the cables. If I want more isolation, Iā€™d look at isolation feet under my glass shelves, which is way cheaper than a Fraim as well.
