Thank you Geko for your feedback between Catsnake and Vodka. It’s very helpful for my future upgrade. Most probably Vodka is not for me. I should try something else, unless a second hand come out and I can risk to take it, try and just in case sell it.
I didn’t tried the Neotech, maybe one day. But tried the Blue Jeans, the Catsnake, the Meicord, the Audioquest Forrest, a cheap Cat 5, and the Audioquest Diamond.
The last is for me the best, by a good margin. It’s a more balanced Vodka, with more refined sound and nicer tones, no edginess at all.
The best for money is the Meicord. Don’t know when the Meicord 2 will be out.
The Catsnake gave an inflated bass .
The Blue Jeans sounds natural, but lacks definitely textures , bass, and openness.
No problem, glad I could help. It is a bit of a minefield out there. Just for the record I have BJC for the long runs of cable I have and I also have some Chord C-stream. I’m quite a C-stream fan. It’s very musical but lacks the finesse and range of Catsnake. I think you might find Catsnake hard to beat as it’s almost obscenely good for the money.
I initially hated Catsnake when I put it up against C-stream. I also thought the bass was too much. However, after running it for a couple of weeks the bass really improved. Both tonally and image wise it just suddenly opened up - far more real than C-stream.
I let it 24/24 during 10 days. Maybe not enough….will never know.
Cables are book of its own.
I like the punch of a vodka, but think, that a bit more organic smoothness would be fine.
Any suggestions- except diamond?
Hi …
As I wrote above:
Neotech NEET-1008 Silver
Chord signature
Chord … yeah but afaik it is only 1m - need 1,5 m.
What about QED?
Could have a massive bass overload - that’s what is fine here
Chord are very accommodating, if you want 1.5m, I’m sure they’d make it for you.
Yeah … but at what cost for a chord music?
Ah well, NOW you’re talking
@frenchrooster
Read a lot about the diamond…
You have both experienced vodka and diamond - is the diamond as full and bass wheighty as the vodka.
Really like to test it, but would not like to buy blind and loose bass (as known Achilles in my system)
Worth a mention but I found that my short length of Catsnake sounded better one way round than the other, so seems to be directional. It also takes forever to sound really good. As mentioned by some, on a quick listen you may find the bass seems odd. This quirk does disappear after time, so just be patient. Like most cables it helps if it’s not touching things but at least it’s quite flexible - unlike Vodka, which could tether a small boat!
I’ve tried C-Stream, another more expensive Chord cable, Blue Jeans, Vodka and standard cheap CAT5. I feel that Catsnake is quite a bit better than all of these. Very refined, balanced, delicate and natural.
Thanks.
We’ll see. I needed a shorter length of something so thought I’d give it a go.
Should get round to listening tomorrow. It’s had a radio stream running through it since yesterday on mute. Not that that should make any difference. Likewise direction. But at least they can be eliminated as variables if tried.
It’s nicely made and ‘feels’ a lot more expensive than it is.

The sound in general is better balanced, more refined, open, still organic with well defined bass. But the bass in the Vodka is overwhelmed for me. The Diamond is not in the face sound like the Vodka. I much prefer the former.
Can you find an online site with 14 days test and return possibility?
You can test the Catsnake too, it’s cheap. Some like it with the Nd555.
Thanks a lot - a bit more organic refinement is what I really would like, but when it comes with less fat bass it is bad in my system.
The vodka bass is one of the reasons I chose it - as you guys here recommended… I am so happy you did.
I keep the vodka … with Innuos it is really heavy in the face, but I like it punching
This evening I connected the FURUTECH LAN-8 NCF to give it a try compared to my Catsnake and Viablue EP7. Too early to give a definitive judgement. What I can say is, it’s different from Catsnake and Viablue. I’m really surprised to check that also Lan cables may provide such different sound signature!
Ethernet cables are one of the most complex topics here in the forum. Experiences and preferences vary widely. I think it depends very much on the system and the network architecture (incl. router, switch etc.). It is therefore worth trying them out in your own system. I tried Cord C-Stream and it sounded rather cloudy and not very transparent. I had even more trouble with MeiCord Opal. It sounded muddy and distorted the spatial perception of the instruments. I found Audioquest Cinnamon better than both. Switching to Audioquest Vodka has brought significant progress. I use one from the wall to the Silent Angel Bonn F8 and another from the F8 to the ND5XS2. I haven’t tried Neotech or AQ diamond
