Network Acoustics Tempus Switch

I’ve now got 400+ hours on this and it’s not going back !

The couple of reviews that I can’t post here are pretty much how I’m hearing the Tempus. There are review link on the manufactures website for people to read / watch for themselves.

The Aussie Audiophile and Hifi-Advice are the more in-depth reviews and capture my thoughts pretty much.

It has improved everything - but hasn’t taken anything away (that I can tell…) all listening was via my stored music on my K41 server. A mix of ‘80’s very average tracks and some great recordings.

Willie Nelson’s cover of Always on my Mind was simply glorious. The Church Unguarded Moment was my “rough” ‘80’s track to test harshness and fatigue. It still has that searing guitar riff and vocals that are almost sibilant. Basically it still has that upfront and searing vibe to it, without sounding harsh or fatiguing and still has the feet tapping and head bobbing musical drive.

Essentially it has increased the “technical” hifi bits substantially without killing the drive and groove and engagement that I have carefully sought to have and would hate to give up. If anything it’s upped that a little bit more - without being fake or weird about it.

(System in my profile).

The key points for me are:

  • Substantially better soundstage
  • Substantially better resolution and detail
  • The PRaT is still there, fast without being artificially “hurried along”
  • Substantially better dynamic range (or perceived dynamic range anyway) my SPL readings are below 90dB at my listening spot, but it sounds louder than that - but without any harshness or fatigue. Quit an effort to get that right by NA.
  • Substantially better bass definition, depth and punch (or perceived anyway, it’s hard to measure that or “feel” bass if that makes any sense).
