NEW bedrok Plinth for LP12

@John76
Great pic
I’ve rotated it below.
That is the LP12-50 plinth.
I wonder how much difference there might be with the “ Square version.
Different Keel Switch etc.
Very interesting.

I have been really enjoying this thread and the views expressed- great debate, and input from Peter helpful too.
For the record I have an old LP12 which I love partly based on its age and the nostalgia it represents, but mainly because it sounds great and allows me to enjoy music without all the “what if angst” that can exist (and has in me tbh)
Irrespective of financial means it is extraordinary to consider the 9k represents value for money. The law of diminishing returns is in the red at this level!
As a sense check I explained the issues to my lovely wife. She was aghast that anyone could seriously consider this level on spend on “a bit of ply wood”!!
I know the response will be all about giving consumer choice and let your ears decide etc etc but it is worth mentioning that age related hearing loss (prebyacusis) in the upper registers is typically significant after the age of 50 and certainly after 60.
I would love to know how many of these are actually sold.

I’m in the process of reconfiguring the decks we used last week and I’ll post a picture for you detailing this when I’m able. Possibly tomorrow or it will be Thursdays. Always a balance on time between looking after customers and participating here

Thank you Peter
I know you live in a whirlwind.
Interesting times eh. :+1:

Confirmed stainless top plate with wood plinth. Over 50 years of development and refinement, nothing changed.

So if the bedrok is better, the comparison can be made as;

Bedrok

Woodsong

Stiletto

No one wants an ev

You cruel man :joy:
Nearly right but actually, this is nearer the Stiletto FYI. IMHO.

Beautiful plinth. Is it standard Linn walnut or another finish?

Why on earth did you get rid of your beautiful LP12?

Hi Dan, just a standard Linn Walnut.
Lovely grain though and matches the SBL’s beautifully :+1:

I really like it. And it doesn’t look fussy. I had in my mind something exotic or fluted.

Walnut, Rosewood and Black are now the contenders.

Fluted or non fluted is the question. Prefer black as fluted.

The walnut grain is shown off better with square edge.

I’ll have the Woodsong please, with 10 years of free insurance and petrol
Along with the E-Type the 250 GTO is the best looking car for me. :+1:

My LP12 will be back with me soon. Ekos SE has been rebuilt. New bearings, rewire, lift serviced. Everything has been redone as far as I can tell. Will be like new. I will see how I feel on it’s return and post some pics. I like the current plinth and it matches the maple ash shelving.

It’s always nice to consider options. Really loving the different plinths everyone has sent pics of. They look great in different ways!

The philosopy behind stiletto and bedrock is really. Between the rwo what would be your personal choice?

I’m surprised Fred and Barney have not been involved yet.

Still reckon @Toon plinth beats all of them

Yep it’s lovely but personally I don’t like shiny or glossy wood, just my preference

Yeah, I like both. I am not sure at the moment. A big part of me wants to keep things original as well. Something timeless and classic.

But Linn will do bespoke finishes as well. Any colour or design you want. The choice becomes endless.

Thank you. I must admit - I don’t tire of looking at it
