On a positive note, its good that Linn are still looking at improving ever aspect of the LP12. This R&D can’t be cheap for a small company.
How about a fully automatic remote controlled turntable. Now that would be something. Whilst vinyl replay remains so much hard work I’ll be sticking with CD and streaming.
It’s an extremely good idea.
Yes, LP12-50, you can clearly see the fancy circuit board for the alloy switch, which was not carried over to the new Bedrok. Shame, since they did all the design work for it.
It exists with the Walker audio Procession
What’s more, the new player makes the claim to be the world’s first turntable with remote control VTA/stylus rake angle adjustment, so with the push of a button you can shift the VTA up or down to dial in the optimal setting. And if you’re a sucker for multiple tone arms, you’ll be pleased to hear this beast can accommodate up to three.
Wow! That’s a nice gadget, but I guess that you would need to change the LP side A <->B manually?
No, because when you can buy a 50 k turntable, you can hire a servant to change the lp.
Yes, you are right, and this is an even better automaton!
I am under the impression that Walker audio is no longer in business. A shame.
I didn’t knew. Sad if it’s the case.
Yes, no way could I defend 9k for the plinth. Silly money territory for me. Happy to keep mine on the original black wood.
The comments and attitude regarding the Bedrok remind me of when Linn introduced the Keel.
It’s very hard to see the ‘value’ in this product…… material costs? It appears to be an advanced form of ply wood,…… manufacture? A one off cost to write a program to mill it on am CNC multi axis mill. Research and development costs …… hmmm. I realise that it’s a very low volume, niche product but….
Benefits, theres the rub……
Interestingly I am considering a replacement plinth for my late eighties black ash that has endured several transportations around the globe and now has a patina that can only be described as battered. So this piqued my interest but sadly the price (for me) is pretty insurmountable.
I love that Linn continues to look for ways to improve the Sondek, makes me
Pricing here is NOK126000…. My Bergmann Magne TT was around that price. Everything on the turntable is CNC milled. Included I also got a air compressor for the arm and platter.
It the price was NOK3-40000 I could understand.
Yes, 9 k for the plinth is ridiculous. For 11 k you have a brand new Rega Naia, which competes with a Linn Klimax.
I thought that Linn’s pricing was based on the value and performance the upgrade provides. That being the case with the Bedrok plinth being the most expensive upgrade ever, I would assume they determined that the plinth was fundamental to the overall performance of the deck. A Bedrok with the Basik bits would see off a more expensive collection of LP12 bits in a lesser plinth. This would especially be true when the LP12 was located in a less than ideal environment.
Given a Bedrock Klimax clocks in at circa £32k according to my dealer - similar price to a Naiad (which buys you very little physical ‘stuff’) or a top of the range Vertere (plastic) I’m wondering why folk think Bedrok over priced? I much prefer the look of the Bedrok to either (which is of course subjective). Out of my price range but writing it off (as over priced) seems premature if you’ve never even heard it. Given what some spend on cables, plugs, fuses, switches, isolation feet etc the pricing is surely no surprise. Looking forward to hearing a Bedrok LP12 if I’m ever lucky enough.
Well said. Many of us are ‘discounting’ the Bedrok based on price. Look at it as an upgrade option.
It’s expensive but so is Radikal 2 Klimax and expensive carts. If you can afford it and it does what you want then all good!
The case is also if Stiletto and Skorpion beats it!
Lloyd Walker passed away and the company decided not to continue in business.
