After re-reading the Naim post-install recommandations I suspect that the long power off goal is to force the NDxxx to acquire another IP address from the DHCP server.
I’ll flush the DCHP leases on the server side and see if it helps (which I doubt) .
Even if this helps preventing reboots, it clearly doesn’t solve the problem.
I also use DHCP on my Router - but set the Router to reserve the same Dynamic Address for the ND555 so it is not always changing. I don’t know if that matters, but I’ve not (yet) had any problems - but I also do not really stress my ND555 much and play ripped CDs in WAV format.
Support provide you with a link to download it and you use the web interface to the units to upload. I got the link last week from Steve Harris as mine was right royal fubar. It even wouldn’t roll back properly as I got no home screen. Had to upgrade factory reset, downgrade again factory reset using the front buttons instead of the menus as no other way to do it. Since being on 3.4 not one issue
I agree the random reboots and stuttering sound like some memory issue and it’s getting in to a kernel panic of some description and rebooting. I’d did it to mine 3 times overall. Since been back on 3.4 thanks to Steve all ok.
I would factory reset if you have not already. A reboot did not stop mine from continuing to shut down and reboot itself. It didnt do it again after I did this but it still wasnt right and I have rolled back to 3.4.
I agree with you, and wouldn’t hope it has to do with memory leaks. I also have now issues with intermittent play of Qobuz, which was totally stable so far. Not funny to have just a random reboot. The kind of stuff we shouldn’t have to deal with.
In the past I had sometimes issues with the app, which also where a bit annoying but ok to deal with. This upsets me…
I had the same fear earlier this week. My musical friend was coming by to hear the latest changes to my system after the corona mess. Luckily nothing happened, while I also avoided to listen to Qobuz with him, as the instability on Qobuz is frequently there and basically making Qobuz unlistenable for now. Very very unhappy with this last firmware. And I will in the future again use the best practice of postponing the firmware update.
I think its all the range, there have been reports for most models so far. but your right a lot might not have noticed them. I am shocked that nobody would have spotted this before release as its not exaclty subtle.
I’m sure somebody at Naim will be thinking very hard about how to change the test programme to catch anything similar in future…
I’d have guessed that the beta testers were not representative of the installed population - except that some of those suffering seem to have been beta testers themselves!
I’m Another experiencing an ND555 random reboot this evening while streaming ripped CD from my Unitiserve SSD/NAS. Interestingly, I’m certain that it now sounds better after self rebooting than it did before.
It’s the first evening I’ve really listened to the Streamer since getting my LP12 Karouseled (and other upgrades). The TT has been roundly walloping Digital here…
