New from Naim – Solstice Special Edition turntable

For the optimal Solstice experience, Naim will advise stacking several Monoliths together in what they describe as a ‘Stonehenge’ formation.

Absolutely - but hopefully with a better spirit level than that available to original Stonehenge builders

There’s one thing that hasn’t been mentioned here… clicks and pops!
As a devoted Naim user for the past 30 years, currently owning a full blown 500 active system, I’m delighted to see this innovational and beautiful new product, and would be keen to own one. But… although I have a well-stacked LP 12, I listen far more often to my CD555 and my recently acquired ND555, both of which are incredible pieces of kit. Why? Because there isn’t a click, pop, scratch or any kind of surface noise, all of which can be extremely annoying when listening. Yes, taking great care of your records and keeping them in pristine condition can keep the annoyances at bay, but frankly, I’d just rather not run the risk of annoyances.

I think anyone in the market for a 15-20K turntable might already have accepted clicks and pops?

And USB in, or did you mean those the other way around?

I noticed that too; the word ‘Naim’ has been missed out!

Cheers,

Presumably no LP once the 500 are gone. And maybe no (or reduced) tool kit. TT sold separately from phono stage.

It would be nice if the book got sold separately at some stage?

I know it’s not researched for free, HiFi is mostly expensive for a reason, but even ten percent is a huge amount of money.

I wonder if the style of psu and phono stage will be the next “ look “ of all Naim gear. They are really beautiful and IMHO a great improvement over the current one.

TBH I prefer the current one - but each to their own.

This had me wondering too, looks easier to make than the big aluminium sleeve used on the classic range. Borrowed from the Uniti range perhaps?

I am not a fan of the finned enclosures, but changes in style happen, who knows.

I wonder who will be the first to post a picture of their Solstice in System pics?
Lucky person, who ever it turns out to be.

Right!!:smiley::smiley:
I will check the forum daily!!

Looking forwarding to hearing it, so much so that I have spoken with my dealer (Sound Organisation - York) and lined up a listen as soon they receive theirs :grinning:

The video is now live on Naim’s Youtube channel…

@Naim.Marketing anything you are comfortable with sharing regarding the logic of limiting this to 500 units? (Apologies if this is a repeat Q, don’t recall seeing an answer in 400+ posts!)

interesting. I thought a well recorded analogue full from tape to disc should sound quite good and worthy of a 16K turntable?..

Watching the video and looking at the fascia, I’m just wondering what the clear front panel is made of? Assuming perspex / plexiglass? If so, is this treated in any way to avoid marking / scratching?

Optical ethernet in for the network and USB out for a standalone DAC. I didn’t exactly explain that very well though
