This is true, however with Naim you have to take a view on SQ related to component price and positioning in the heirarchy. If you took the view of adding together whats inside in order to arrive at a VFM checksum you wouldn’t buy either the NAP300 or the FC2.
Interesting you mention the 272, one of the reasons I added a 250DR to the Nova was partly down to a great deal and in anticipation of replacing the Nova with the 272 replacement in 2022 
I would also advocate trialling a power-line with the Nova, if all other prerequisites are in place (i.e. Fraim, dedicated mains, etc…) its is capable of delivering a clear upgrade…
