Been there lots of times - it is a beautiful place !

@Ian
Agree with both of you. Stunning place even at the end of January!

Sure you are right about the rhododendrons Crispy but, unfortunately, with rapidly diminishing friends & family numbers in Kent, it is a bit unlikely that I will ever get back there at the right time.

As I said, first visit in my 67 years & annoying that it was on my doorstep for my first 23 years & I never visited. Were my parents still alive I suspect they would tell me that I visited when I was 2 or 3 years old!

Still, as they say, ‘better late than never’! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit & would certainly place Scotney in the top half dozen NT properties/locations I have visited around the country.

Thank god for the NT annual membership card, which I believe is compulsory for all OAPs!!

And families! Usually something worth seeing, grounds to walk in and at least reasonable quality food and WCs.

Never too late - when I lived in that general area we went to a lot of NT properties :-
Within an hour or so, Chartwell, Ightham Mote, Batemans, Knole Park, Sissinghurst, Bodiam Castle, Emmett’s Garden, Standen House, Wakehurst Place, Sheffield Park Garden … etc.
Where I live now, we only have 2 places within an hour or two, so do not get the use out of the membership that we used to.
Enjoy !!!

What a coincidence!

It was a bit of a handful, certainy compared to the Escorts…

Made a nice noise as it went past though

Growing up, a friend had one of these in black with gold wheels/silver trim rings. One of 204 I think, the only one I ever saw in black.

There was also a nice little Chevette for any GM fans…

You’d think that if Vauxhall were going to go to the trouble of a factory shot, they’d do their best to not make it look like the boot was full of bags of cement!

Was also a fan of the Chevette HS/HSR back in the day. Tartan-ish seats. What can I say? Went to a meet and greet with Pentti Airikkala and Jimmy McRae at my local dealer as the dealers funded the teams.

Nice photos. Just one thing missing.

A HELICOPTER. :hear_no_evil:

Munich, February 3rd 2023. A very strong southerly (“Föhn”) wind keeping the clouds off the alps.

P.S. The alps are hiding today.

A very dull, grey day here in Cornwall so I thought it appropriate to post some black & white shots from one of the worlds great cities - plus three from New York…
