Glad you like it thanks! No problem on the screen saver.

Not long back from a couple of weeks away in Derbyshire and Northumberland, via a night in Yorkshire, and rather lovely it was too. Here’s the best from week 1, week 2 to follow…

Nice sky conditions from the garden tonight.

I was on the search for the local bats but alas, they are elusive at the moment.

Hi Ian,

I’m not entirely sure what you mean! Happy to answer if you can clarify.

Back to the ‘big’ mountains, after a) a ridiculously long recovery from a chest infection back in March and b) a long regime of fitness rebuilding - it was brilliant to be back! This is the very remote Corbett, Beinn a’ Chaisgein Mor and its adjoining Fiona, Beinn a’ Chaisgein Beag. I took the shortest route, which at 40km is still a significant challenge, and walked in the night before to get a very early start.

A pretty good camp spot

The bealach with the two mountains either side

The plushest mountain bothy I’ve ever come across; clearly built for long stays by the ghillie, with a double bed, kitchen, and gas bottles. Not open to the public!

Ever get the feeling you’re being watched?

You get about don’t you.

Sorry - perhaps a little obtuse?
I understood (from your photos) that the north of Scotland is home?
Love Northumberland, very underused holiday destination, lots to see and do !

Haha, yes. Although my trip with the UN ( IAEA) to Bagladesh in november is currently “on hold”.

Don’t worry I was down at Dungeness yesterday and all seemed OK.
