“Mr Hoops” came and said hello this morning. He/She is one of a pair and are very busy at the moment, feeding young we think. They are quite skittish with people so just snapped though double glazing with my phone. They are lovely birds.

I love Vierwaldstättersee and I have always loved visiting your country. I was at the blues festival in Luzern several times when it was still going. Last year a wonderful weekend in Weggis and we are just back from a weekend in Wengen.

Greater Spotted Woodpecker that I spotted on the ground in one of our fields. Was obviously not well - injured, I think. I moved it to a more sheltered, quieter, place. It disappeared eventually, so I hope that it recovered.

Hi @William Hi, thank you very much for your feedback. Yes, it’s wonderful to live at the Lake Lucerne. We enjoy it very much and are very grateful for it. There are lots of places to go on day trips. I also know Weggis and Mont Rigi well. However, due to our location on the edge of the Alps, we often have rain and in winter there is a lot of fog, so we often don’t see the sun for weeks. Then, the only remedy is a trip up to the mountains (Click here).
Wengen in the Bernese Oberland is also wonderful with the mountains Mönch, Eiger, and Jungfrau. I hope you had a nice weekend there with fine summer weather.

Thanks @Wilfried we had a wonderful weekend, met some lovely people, talked a lot and did an easy hike along the panorama track from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg. We are always awed by the beauty of the scenery up there.
