Beautiful, as always Ian.
Rumours abound that if they don’t get new planes soon then they will be called;
The Red Arrow

Yep, tricky. Of their 3 new pilots for the season, only one is involved with the team now.
The search for a trainer to replace the Hawk was announced way back in 2012 but was put off again and again until revived last year.
Lord knows when the Hawks will be replaced, probably long after they have to be grounded, which means RAF pilots will need to be trained overseas. Ironic given that the UK has trained many pilots for other air forces over the years. Even our ‘Aggressor’ training flights are handled by a private company, employing ex-service pilots (from a number of forces) based out of Teeside.
Loathe to admit it but I wasn’t overly impressed by their display at the weekend. Clearly hastily put together and using moves from the 7 ship displays of 50/60 years ago. On balance and out of context, still amazing really but looked quite shonky by their lofty standards I feel.
Perhaps they will soon be known as the Red Flechettes.
Hi James
Where are you based to capture all this aeronautical splendour?
Well I live in Cambridgeshire and most flying pics are taken down the road at Shuttleworth in Beds. I’m a member of the SVAS there and it’s a bit like my second home.
However these were from the Midlands Air Festival at Ragley Hall last weekend.
Thanks James, you always share stunning images, often breath taking.
A few Empire State Building-related; one of, two from. Overdid the editing, bit amateurish, but that notwithstanding, I like ‘em.
