All of a sudden noticed this
Hi def works on Qobuz music
Any ideas ? @Richard.Dane
David
No, sorry David. Probably one for Naim - @stevesky ?
Thanks,Richard
Anybody else ever have this happen?
I have tried rebooting router, rebooting entire system. My wifi signal is good.
I was playing around with router settings but really did not change anything as far as I can tell.
Can someone confirm that they are getting true hi def signals from their Naim radio stations.
@Simon-in-Suffolk would appreciate your thoughts on this issue. Again, I am able to get hi def from Qobuz, just not from ANY naim radio stations.
@Stevesky would value your input
David
One question has to be whether the radio stations you are trying to access provide hi def streams - they are not the same as Qobuz. From what I have seen, very few radio stations do.
What happens when you select the Hidef web radio streams on the Naim app… it seems to play out fine with me at varying lossless resolutions upto 192/24 FLAC ie Mother Earth Radio.
All sounds very good to me.
Naim radio on the Hidef tab plays out at FLAC 44.1/16
all the hidef stations are now CD level def ie 44/?
all hi def qobuz get usual hi def as high as 192/24
What is going on?
Never had this in the past.
try Mother Earth Radio.. its 192/24 FLAC
Admittedly there are not many stations above 44.1/16 FLAC but there are a few. For example Radio X Basel is at 48/24 FLAC.
Its obviously more expensive to stream higher bandwidths from CDNs so naturally you will see less web radio stations at hidef.
thanks Simon, but I have always gotten high def on Radio Paradise, JB Radio etc.
Now they all ae 44/16 def.
Something has changed in my system… ?Naim app ?router ?maybe signing on to new Naim radio app
Not sure what else I can do to get back the hi def radio
David
I suspect it might be the operating budgets from these web radio stations. You can always reach out to the webstation and ask if they are planning to return to hidef streaming. They might have a subscription model..
According to Radio Paradise community forum - their FLAC stream is (now) 44.1/16 .. though does suggest some content may be streamed at 24 bit where available.
@Simon-in-Suffolk
but ALL the hi def stations are now non hi def… this is not operating budgets but something else.
Up until now I was able to hear countless hi def stations and now NONE.
David
Ok - as I say I can see and play hidef stations using the Naim app into my NDX2. Those stations I mention that are hidef that I checked and played this morning - how do you see those? I assume as MP3 or AAC?
So all working well here including 44/16 48/24 and 192/24 - just not so many of them - but I never remember there be many hidef stations anyway.. and yes perhaps slightly less now but they are there.
anything else I could try to fix this?
Do I need to do a complete reset of my ND555?
David
what about the answer to my question above - and then we can advise further ?
the hi def stations play music (still sounds good)
but they all show 44/16 - ALL!
Other non hi def stations might show their usual def ie 128 for example.
Hope that helps
If you go to audiophile.fm, are any of the stations you are talking about listed, and showing in that list as hi def, or does the list show just as CD quality?
yes, all the hi def stations listed in my favorites or in the Naim listed hi def stations all now play at only CD level of def. This has not been the case for the few years that I have used the ND555.
David
So what do you see for the four Mother Earth web radio stations. I see them at 192/24 FLAC in the hidef folder.
If you can’t and you have the latest firmware on your streamer and Naim app, I would contact Naim support directly.
Yep, just looked at all my hidef radio stations and it looks like they are playing at standard definition? At least that’s what it’s saying.
Were they ever actually ‘hi def’ though? Perhaps the updated app is displaying it differently
