OCD Alert! Old Naim Price Lists

naim newsletter 1997 / A4 / 8 pages / German version

I knew I had one of these somewhere but didn’t manage to find it until today as it was located in a different folder to where the majority of my work is. Note - we decided not to translate ‘the end of the year of the bat’ - which was a reference to the naim bat advertisements - as used in @Debs avatar.

Does anyone know the price of the 42.5 upgrade?

Here is one from 2004

When I had mine done it was about £20. That was in 1984 though.

Excellent pictures @GeoffC of the cherry SL2s and Allaes thanks for sharing.

I’m lucky to own both of these classic speakers (and in cherry) and enjoy them daily.

That seems low? I bought my 42 in 1984 it was £213. The 42.5 came out the next year - as it replaced the main circuit board I would have expected it to be a substantial proportion of the new price. Did you mean £120?

Glad to hear that you liked the pictures. SL2’s are something special. I was only thinking about this thread the other day because I have more to add, it’s just getting around to it.

Despite lock down I have been busy working most of the time. I thought I would have some free time this weekend then I get asked for help = I don’t want to say no = got it all completed = now it’s early the hours of Monday! The week is ahead is looking easier though.

Having worked remotely online for many years, it’s nice to think that I can put a smile on some faces, even though I don’t ever see them!

Richard, many many years ago there was the red cover ( what I call the book of Naim ) that had all the products in it from screw down case to Olive with a brief description of the products in it, wondering if you ever grabbed a copy, I think I have one somewhere but that might be of interest to some here.
Not sure how it would or could be made available, I think it has many pages to it.
Feel free to reach out.

Steve, I think what you’re talking about was the dealer guide. Yes, i have one and have even done my own updates and started expanding the different sections. However still very much work in progress. When done I would like to make it an online resource.

Richard, I believe you mentioned that the Naim website was about to be updated in some way. Do you know if the pages for recently discontinued products will still be available. I’m thinking particularly of the 1st generation streamers, Unitis, servers, NDAC etc. These web pages, along with the links to various manuals, firmware updates, etc. are invaluable to anyone who owns them, or is researching a second hand purchase, and it would be a real shame if they vanished.

Chris, sorry I don’t know any of the details of the new website.

Many thanks for this one! 2004 is one of the few recent ones I was missing.
Current gaps:

  • Anything <= 1980
  • 1983
  • 1991 (Introduction of CDS?)
  • Late 1993 and/or Early 1994 (introduction of NAC 92, NAIT 3, NAT03)
  • Late 1995 and/or Early 1996 (introduction of NAIT 3R, CD2)
  • April 2000 or thereabout
  • 2003

And that’s all! In the meantime I need to figure out an easy way to share the spreadsheet with all of you guys.

Cheers!

Here is April 1994. Nait 3 etc. Sorry it is very poor copy - let me know if you cannot make something out.

Would love to get copy of the spreadsheet.

Cool stuff! This is the last one before the 52PS was transformed to Supercap (and listed separately).

Ok, here is my attempt to share the file. It’s an excel file with all my efforts of the last years, not only Naim prices… You can follow the link below.
@Richard.Dane please let me know if it is OK to share a direct link to a file hosting website.
Link to the goodies!

I hope you will find this info useful and/or fun. It wouldn’t have been possible without your help!

Cannot we a link below - hope it is not blocked.

The link is “hidden” behind the text “Link to the goodies”. Click on the sentence and it should work.

Thanks. It is fascinating- I am just upgrading my naim amps in first time in decades. Trading in my old 42(upgraded to 42.5)/Hi-Cap/250 from 1984/1985 to brand new 2020 300DR (using with Akurate DSM as preamp) If it lasts as long and holds it value as much I will be well chuffed. The only thing I have lost money on was CD3.

Assume you have this one !
