Tool - Lateralus
Yes sure time flies, but I think this one is timeless!
Tough this, changes by day but Tool Lateralus is up there, but today i nominate Hejira.
I think that it’s cheating - or not within the spirit of the (non-existent) rules - to have a new favourite every day!
It’s not meant to be easy, but you have to make your choice and stick by it (or choose not to play at all).
After much reflection it has to be The Story of The Who – double vinyl.
Why?..well because it was the first real rock album I had and it was an exploration with My Generation, Baba O’Riley and many other The Who classics, including Boris the Spider, Substitute and Magic Bus.
.
I’ve never seen that Best Of The Who set before.
I have most of their LPs in any event, so it would be wasted on me.
My father had this so I heard it an awful lot in the 70’s - which was no bad thing
OK Hejira point taken sir
What a superb choice - Joni’s finest studio album.
There is no extreme case where anyone could possibly live with just one album. Insanity would certainly follow…
…unless of course I’m allowed to borrow my neighbors one album.
I know that.
This is just a game, which you don’t have to join in on.
Unplugged. Nirvana.
I remember watching Nirvana Unplugged on MTV as it was first broadcast, completely spellbound. Kurt Cobain was magnificent, wearing a pale brown cardigan with holes in the sleeves. Not long before he killed himself, unless my memory is letting me down.
It’s also a great album.
Led Zep - Remasters
Triple album, good thinking.
Easy - Tom Waits : Rain Dogs
Kate Bush Ariel, I have a remastered vinyl copy and a CD. copy. It’s creates soundscapes that just take you to another place. One of my favourite albums……
And for this time, too.
I would cheat and go for a live album and hence a double or triple album, purely on the grounds that I can get more music and, to a first approximation, “the best of”…![]()
On that basis it would be a toss up between:
Welcome Back My Friends…
Yessongs
Made In Japan
Pulse
The Song Remains the Same
