One thing I notice is the “aversion” to record sleeves in most posts. I would not store/have a record without a sleeve but I seem to be in a minority🙄

I would say 50% to 60% of mine are sleeved.
All new ones get sleeved as soon as they arrive.
Old collection records get cleaned and sleeved as they are played, or sometimes I go on a binge and do a dozen at once. That’s only happened a few times though.
Obviously the 40% to 50% that are not yet sleeved are records I haven’t played in a LONG time…:man_shrugging:t2:

It’s the very first thing I do whenever I buy a record, new or used: check sleeve, clean it if necessary and stick a sleeve on it. Then I proceed to clean the record itself even if new. All my records have a sleeve. Maybe a little OCD.

I’m definitely getting there, but Rome wasn’t built in a day…

All my records – new or used – get a fresh inner sleeve and a 5mil outer sleeve.

Apart the Bill Withers pure pleasure reissue, all are original ones in Mint/ Near Mint condition. I have a little collection but it’s a result of many years. I sold thousands of lps since 30 years, to only keep my favourites.
Around 250 jazz rock/ fusion, originals too . Apart two Jeff Beck and one Hancock. ( Analogue production reissues). But the same as originals too.
42 soul funk.
Around 30 blues/ pop rock.
If I had kept all I had bought since maybe 1985, I would have easily 5 times more.

The same applies to my cds. I kept around 200 albums. Sold a lot during all the years.
I will proceed the same with downloads. Will delete the average or bad ones.

Sleeves kill the magical contact with the albums, and the smell too. I am not joking.
Audiophile reissues can be inside sleeves, but not originals. Just me of course.

Most of mine (at least 70%) are in the thin soft type sleeves (as opposed to the old hard ones). I did hate that you couldn’t always read the spines easy so now the open end of the sleeve is trimmed and at the front, if that make sense!

Very liberal!

Wow, is that an entire shelf of Gary Numan Records? As Roy Castle would’ve said: “Now, that’s dedication”…

Well it’s 1 section plus about 1/3 but well spotted sir - still remember that top of the pops debut!

Like your Everhot!!

Sorry, it was a bit voyeuristic, but I was intrigued! I think Gary owes you a flight in his Harvard…

He sold that years ago - strangely enough the last thing he put on instagram was his missus playing with a mini dump truck at their house in the highlands! No more flying around for him LOL

I tend to put sleeves on new purchases and my ‘treasured’ records - not necessarily valuable or scarce, just records that I’d not want to be without.

Just had a breeze back to my old lunchtime venue.

It’s still there, mainly CDs and a nice exhibition of concert photos.
