Pics ‘From the Listening Position’

Hi @BrendanD ,

I love look you have there with your Linn/Naim system. Also love the detail in the cabinet with marquetry on the right. Can you say a bit more about the cabinet?

Thankyou. Very kind. It sounds amazing. Two high quality components and Vertere Redline throughout with a pair of (unusual in the UK) high quality stand mounts on very solid stands.

As for the cabinet it’s gujarati hand painted. My parents bought it about 20 years ago and I inherited it when they died. Likewise the original Henri Gaudier-Brzeska drawing on the wall, although that was bought from Jim Eade. (see Kettles’ Yard Cambridge) in the late ‘50s.

Hi Brendan,

Thanks for sharing the info. The cabinet caught my eye, as well as the HiFi (obviously), because year’s ago (before we were together) my wife had imported a 4 drawer chest from India when she was visiting India over a quarter of a century ago. We have the chest in our bedroom.

Favoring the South side..

..which is the left channel, getting a better view of the snowy yard. In a few minutes, before it gets too dark, I will start the grill outside. In the meantime playing harpsichord works by John Bull, performed by Alan Freiberg on the piano.

Yes, indeed! :ok_hand:

This was my view from the listening position a little earlier this evening. You can’t beat live music played by masters.

Is that an original Eileen Gray side table? Rather lovely

Not sure if it fully qualifies for “Listening” but Noël Coward Theatre for the final Matinee performance of The Importance Of Being Earnest with Stephen Fry as Lady Bracknell🤣

Your listening room looks like the interior of one of my favourite pubs (The Cavern Raynes Park).

These Active 505’s really are great. The upgrade to 606 or get subs is the current dilemma…..

Escaping the new series of “ Call the Midwife” (it’s that time of year again ..)

However gives me a good excuse to crank up the ATCs which seem to be sounding even better & better every day - with fuller bass (fuller everything really) :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
