Love the simplicity of this set up!
007 socks?
Grinch socks ![]()
Happy New Year Dan, hope you are well.
Happy New Year Nigel. Doing good. What more can I ask for? Got Grinch socks from my 5 year old son. Love 'em
Me too, just shows what you can achieve with active speakers and a modern streamer/pre-amp solution.
Looks great, Wimbledon, London?

Just out of interest Dan and speaking as one who is doing it just to slot in a new box, how often do you break down and reassemble your kit? ![]()
Hi Mike,
Last time was last March 2025. I can dust most of it easily. Will be taking it apart again soon as I intend to refloor and make some minor room changes. Once that is done hopefully no changes and try to leave it as is for longer!
Stripping it down and rebuilding increases risk of knocks, nicks and damage no matter how careful you are! And backache!
Generally, I have made alot of system changes in the past so it was rebuilt every 3 or 4 months.
I think once a year is enough! Or hopefully less. Would appreciate others sharing their stories too.
Best wishes
Dan
Is that vineyards outside? Nice view!
Martin
Indeed it is Martin - the hotel is built on terraces planted with vines, fruit trees and herbs.
2025 saw quite a lot changes in both the room and the system, and because the building works didn’t go quite to schedule (when do they ever?), the set-up was taken down and re-built several times. I got fed up with not having access to decent quality sound, so re-installed it all just before Christmas - Peter at Cymbiosis and Simon Price managed to get the Simraks to me in the third week of December. I’ve got to take it down one more time when the electrician comes back to finish the dedicated feed and Furutech socket will be fitted, and after that, I hoping to leave well alone in 2026!
Dusting is ok with a microfibre brush, the Burndys are firmly locked and all the cables are dressed as recommended. Provided I can resist any urge to fiddle with the digital network side of things (!), I hope that my attention will be on the music, and less on the hi-fi.
Love the chair
I like the dog ![]()
Everyone that visits us also makes a beeline to my chair. Our Dodger has made this his new launch pad. I’m now relegated to our old settee that I never used before. I’m know looking at getting a new settee and maybe another swivel chair. I don’t know if this will be to my advantage in getting my chair back. Such is life.
