Pics ‘From the Listening Position’

I have a pair of Prophecy 7’s on order. They will ship on may 30th, so it will probably take a while before they reach San Francisco. I’m looking forward to them.

That’s right.

Both Linn and Naim have also made some really excellent speakers in the past as well though. Linn seemed to enter into a very strange phase when they branched out into making amplifiers and CD players. I’m not really sure that they have entirely come out of it. Linn has since always seemed to me to be a difficult company to really get a handle on. The LP12 is obviously still going strong and is still highly regarded, but the context is now rather different to many years ago in the late 70’s/80’s when it dominated the hi-fi scene for many. I don’t think ‘dominated’ is too strong a word here. Other than that the only thing that seems to really stand out now is the Klimax DSM which is highly regarded but is very silly money. At least for me.

I absolutely agree with this approach.
My main system is Naim 350 amplifiers, but source and speakers are Linn.
Simply SUBLIME

They are an amazing speaker. Not going anywhere anytime soon. If you’re in the US there’s a mint pair for sale on USAM. I bought mine having never heard them and I’m glad I did.

Thanks, but shipping them to Germany and taxing would add a lot to the price.

Our latest acquisition, a little table thing to fit our Stressless ottoman.

A Naim tuner and power supply lurk.

Lovely room but your Profile says Nat 05 ??? - a bit more than that in there?

Hi Ian,

There’s a Naim power supply under the 05 tuner. Atop, there’s an Aqvox phono pre. I could go on, if there’s any interest.

Not exactly mundane speakers, either.

With my latest acquisition, I now have three pairs of monoblocks-enough for a six pack.
The biggest amp in the shelf is the new ChiFi T9.4 Mono based around a Burmester design.
It may be the best amp I have ever had.
The unused amps have been put in a closet, and may not see the light of day again.

The listening position now looks like this (the speakers are just outside the frame)…

I didn’t see that, must be hiding out of shot?

You could copy and paste that in your profile, which would make it easier for others to find in future.

Fabulous :+1:t3:

Hi Clive,

I’m trying to amend my Profile. No joy so far.

Hi Mark,

I’ve just gone into my profile to see how it’s done. If I remember correctly, you click on your avatar, then click on your name to open the full profile. Then you click on the icon of a head, followed by the cog icon. This opens the editing page. You can then add the text and save the changes.

Hopefully that’ll work.
