Agreed both white and funky but not in the same league really.
Oh alright, how about
Jamiroquai Emergency On Planet Earth
Thanks DATC, I’ve got a 2 CD compilation of New Orleans funk and I’m sure The Meters are on that - I’ll have to dig it out.
Thanks Bob, I’ve got all of The Talking Heads albums. I particularly like the Stop Making Sense album.
Thanks, I already have that album, but I’ve not listened to it in ages.
I have the live version of Fallin’ Like Dominoes on the Best of Donald Byrd, which is my preference, but this is still cool.
The Fatback Band
Brass Construction
Give this a try for a different direction.
Soul, Funk n Reggae from Jamaica recorded at Randy’s Studio 17
This is an excellent comp as is just about everything Soul Jazz put out
Sorry I’m hogging the thread so last one for now. Not funk but if your interested in the Rock n Roll, RnB that came out of New Orleans this is a pretty essential selection across 4 CD’s
Thanks for all the suggestions DATC. That is the New Orleans funk album I have - you’re right it’s excellent. Just trying The Fatback Band track you mentioned - excellent stuff.
Finally got volume 1 of Stax of Funk, as recommended by Richard Dane. An enjoyable introduction to a lot of new (to me) funk artists.
