Surely in an AC circuit the direction of the fuse is irrelevant?
It just means you get the benefit for half the phase and a corresponding disbenefit for the second half.
My three PowerLines are fitted with SEM fuses. One is shiny with big dimples on either cap end, the other two have dull un-shiny cap ends.
…… err um ? looks like a typo …… now corrected
Phew! At least i can now say that mine, like yours, are genuine also. ![]()
P.S i’ve decided to put the shiny fused PowerLine on my SN3 as i feel that this will yield best performance. ![]()
I’d have to have them all the same ![]()
But that’s just me. ![]()
I never knew Bussman fuses were full of sand (genuine ones)…learn something new every day.
Those fake gold ones are being sold on auction and although marked as the rating shown the seller blurb states these are 10A
Recent regs on fuse ratings have been simplified to only two ratings now.
“ Manufacturers have now standardised plug fuse ratings to be either 3A or 13A. However, 5 Amp fuses are still used in some older equipment and are available to buy.”

Yes, quartz sand apparently - they time better ![]()
I went for PowerLines for all my Naim kit, apart from the NAPSCs and it was a good improvement.
However, went with a Mark Grant cable for my Linn Klimax DS3 / Katalyst streamer because of the overhang at the rear and needed a slimline IEC plug.
I did initially make my own power cable for the Linn using Furutech plugs, but it sounded awful, (but that may have been the cable).
The DIY ones I made for the two NAPSCs made no difference either way, (used a different cable).

I’ll get your coat! ![]()
This davidf doesn’t play with fuses ![]()

Loving the fuses diversion. Ordered mine from Amazon- looking forward to a life of inky blackness once fitted…![]()
All for under a fiver….
Amazon algorithm will be confused by all this sudden ordering from us lot.
That’s at least five of us. Baaaaaa……

I’m having second thoughts about these Bussmann fuses. Can they be any good at £4.98 for ten? Should I be aiming higher? I was thinking about one of these, as I only need one.
It’s a silver extreme level mains fuse by Quantum Science Audio. It costs a what looks to be very reasonable £4,200. Would that be a bit too much for a Nova? It’s got to be worth trying, surely?
Binned off the Bussmann and ordered 4 of these instead- thanks for the heads up HH
Love a bargain
Hi Endon, it will be worth every penny

Haha. All 1.68 million of them !
