Premier League Football 25/26

When I was just a little lad …

That’s 3 consecutive halves of football when we’ve put the top teams to the sword. Did it by playing to our strengths, With 2 free signings up front. The top teams don’t like being bullied & they don’t like playing against a front 2. A result which keeps the hope alive but does nothing for post match traffic. I believe Chelsea fans think their keeper is their weak link. He certainly looked weak tonight. Best thing I can say is we thoroughly deserved the win. Pleased for Farke. The vitriol aimed at him, a thoroughly decent man, on social media fuelled by the sports channels/pundits wanting a scalp is pretty disgusting.

Next up, the Slot machine. An interesting prospect. For now we celebrate with a dandelion & burdock before driving home. MOT - electric in the ground tonight.

She’s looking forward to it more than I am… They look extremely well organised. We have been so inconsistent, but Wissa may be back, which will be a great help. I foresee 3 days of peace and quiet whilst we’re not speaking to each other

Great win by Villa today, although the commentary was like Arsenal TV . Not great for the neutral but the game made up for it.

The wobble well underway in Nth London. Thinking Gooners fans must be wondering about Gyökeres? Tbf should have killed the game off long before Villa came back.

On my way to see lufc in another mismatch. :crossed_fingers:

Good lord, coasting 2:0 up against 10 men and somehow Newcastle nearly gave up another 2 points. Stupid handball by Ramsey who so far hasn’t really shown why we bought him. Finally nice to Wissa on the pitch.

I had thought we were having a nice relaxing game building up to this weeks Champions League but Eddie won/t be happy with the last 10 minutes.

Strange old game this

We are having a short getaway this week in Fuerteventura and were at the poolside bar when we heard about the late winner in the Villa match.

Our hotel name is Buendía.

It made me smile.

For the neutral, that was an entertaining second half at Elland Road. I guess the Leeds fans enjoyed it too!

A point against Liverpool. 3 against Chelsea earlier in the week. Certainly cheered me up after the cricket.

Slot out!!

Liverpool’s defence is so leaky and Konate is terrible. They really screwed up in the transfer window - came in v late for Guehi and wouldn’t pay the £5-10m extra which would have sealed the deal and was only 1-2 % of their total transfer spend. Durr

So that’s the world champions disposed of and points taken from the current league champions. Almost took points off City as well. Fair to say we’ve had a good week. Let’s hope we can build upon it v the aerial bombers of Brentford. A game of poor defending from both teams and massive heart from Lufc.

The Mighty Whites seemed down and out as The Scousers scored a couple, early in the second half, but wait, we came back with two of our own, the first a well taken penalty from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, followed by a neat finish from Anton Stack.

Game on.

Five minutes later, we go one down again in the 80th. minute, but Ao Tanaka comes to the rescue in the sixth minute of added time, to save the day at 3-3.

What a match. :face_with_peeking_eye:

This time last week, I was thinking that we would get absolutely nothing from the next three games, but an unlucky last minute winner from Citeh, followed by a win against the Chequebook Londoners, and tonight’s draw against The Scousers, has left me feeling rather happy with life, and eight goals scored against these teams is surely quite remarkable.

This “don’t know when we’re beaten” attitude, especially in front of the Elland Road crowd, is exactly what is needed to keep us in The Premiership.

M.O.T.

Edit : I gather from the BBC “have your say” topic that The Scousers’ “YNWA” now stands for “You’ve Not Won, Again”.

Priceless.

We were our own worst enemies today gave the ball away far too many times over hit and under hit passes and can we finally say that Eze doesn’t work wide left either play him in the 10 or leave him on the bench. A fully fit Trossard will be a welcome sight as will at least one of our first choice CB’s although one bright spark was Piero Hincapie who looks made for the Premier League.

For such a well run club the ‘so called’ (according to Ai ) restrictive practices which mean the ground’s half empty are a bit odd. Atmosphere’s non existent.

What do we all think about Mo Salah airing Liverpool’s dirty laundry in front of the World’s press? According to quotes coming out of Norway Mo Salah feels let down and thrown under the bus by the club and says that he’s relationship with Arne Slot is now non existent.

Of course we have to be careful due to AI but these comments and the interview itself has been shown and discussed on some very big online platforms .

Given Slot likes a player who airs his dirty linen in public, Isak, he can hardly complain when Salah, an actual world class player, airs his dirty linen in public. Neither player should have done it imo but it does feel like Salah, who hasn’t been at his best, has been thrown under the bus. Is Slot hoping to force him out while he’s worth real money? Would like him on loan in January

Champions league for Palace

Good weekend for sport. My lot actually resembled a half-decent team and grabbed 3 points. Meanwhile, the bottling neighbours got a boot up the poo-pah. Also, nice to see the F1 championship won by a nice person for a change…..

Pity about the embarrassment down under. As usual, not enough Yorkies in that team. Not enough Pennine grit.
