I’m down to these apps, tried removing multimedia app but apparently I need the transcoding function minimserver uses to serve my lossless radio stations. Asset didn’t seem to need the multimedia center. And I’ve disabled indexing and thumbnail generation within it and transcoding still works. Resource monitor indicates none of these apps are nothing more than a very minor draw on resources.
I’ve deleted or stopped all those suggested, including JRE, and re music is still playing, which is good. I’ll keep an eye on the Qnap to see if it sleeps more. It would be good if the essential apps were somehow highlighted or locked, to avoid inadvertent deletion but hey, we can’t have it all. Thanks again for your help.

The essential apps cannot be stopped or removed. If you click on the drop down you will see that these options are not available.
