Qobuz Connect is here

Not all manufacturer’s own control apps can do UPnP streaming properly. Auralic, for example, can’t fully deal with MinimServer. So I think it’s unlikely that Qobuz will ever find it worthwhile to move in that direction.

Yes, the Zen Mk3 does Qobuz Connect at version 3.3. But there is a but. This works when the USB output of the Zen is connected to a DAC and used as the player. Using the Sense app to transcribe the stream to a UPnP player on your network is not supported by Innuos’s Qobuz implementation, so in that case you do not see the Innuos Zen as a player in the Qobuz app.

I’m streaming via a Pulse using Qobuz Connect as I type

That would be ok, currently I am a mac mini to feed the Linn NGKDM via async USB B as a workaround, but it seems Pulse is a better option.

Mine is behaving a bit differently. If select my Nova as the output device, it wakes it up and I can play without using the Naim app first. However, when the Nova goes to sleep, Qobuz reverts to the phone as the selected device, and I have to select the Nova again manually next time I want to play something.

Roon remembers the output device between sessions and wakes it up the next time something is played.

QC appears to have a short memory. If I’m at home, connected to my network, it only needs to remember the last streamer it was connected to. If I’m away from home, there is no streamer to connect to, so just play via phone or iPad (or whatever is driving Qobuz). It can’t be any more complex than that, can it?

Tried but didn’t work. Actually had to take it off of ethernet and update wirelessly, and then it workded. QC also won’t work on ethernet, despite being the same network. Sigh.

You’ve got a problem with your network then. But you probably won’t want to hear that.

i have noticed that i sometimes have to nudge my 222 to actually play sound by increasing volume by 1 step on remote i think this may be if i have used remote in previous session

a few thoughts on using playlists in qobuz connect:

i was wrong to think you cannot go to album from the now playing screen but the route is not obvious: under the track title are artist and album in rather smaller feinter font. these are both selectable artist takes you to bio album title takes you to the album

shuffle seems to select tracks 50 at a time - so not as random as naim app which shuffles up to 500 tracks

but QC does recognise when you include 3 movements from the same work in a playlist - they appear together when you shuffle,

would be great to learn any other tips people have noted with QC

Enjoying listening to Qobuz on one of our six Amazon Echos.

That doesn’t look like Qobuz Connect - looks like you are just streaming over bluetooth from your device…

That’s correct.

CD Quality via Bluetooth.

Indeed, but at least I can play Qobuz as well as Jazz24 through the Echos.

DG…

Tidal can now stream Hires FLAC via Chromecast.

I’m not sure that matters. We have a couple of Echos. Useful for listening to the news, setting a timer or switching off lights by voice etc, but I wouldn’t use either of them for listening to music.

Roger

As mentioned, we have six of them and the radio through them is not bad, particularly for the bedroom and guest rooms. Thought that I’d try Qobuz through to test and considering the size of the Echo, it wasn’t bad

Nowhere near the Selekt, but certainly passable.

So, a few months on. Do people routinely use qobuz to drive their naim streamers or use qobuz from the naim app?

If I am using Qobuz, I always use the Qobuz app. A much better experience on the whole, the only downside is that I always have to select the 333 as the output each time. There might be a way to save your output choice, but I haven’t found it yet.
