Railway Modelling

The bloke who bought that one said he had been considering 2 other signals. One costing £450 was still on its pole, in the ground. The other was well over a thousand pounds but was out of the ground. If you’re interested I believe this is for sale

The only bit of Railway Memorabilia is this 55E shed plate from Normanton which was where I grew up, no idea what it was fitted too, but could have quite easily come off a WD.

Went to see The Market Deeping Model Railway Club play at Nottingham Playhouse today, about the exhibition that was destroyed by vandals a few years so.

Good cast, a bit stereotypical in terms of characters, but funny, moving and enjoyable.

Playing until Saturday evening.

I love model railways and model aircraft and always had various models, trains and a layout when I was a youngster. I gradually grew out of it as a hobby and hi-fi took over. I’ve never lost my fascination with trains and aircraft though and sometimes I do feel tempted to start building a model train layout. What stops me in the end is the thought of going down another rabbit hole. The hi-fi one is enough! Lack of space and the cost of it all is the other thing, not to mention lack of time. It’s crazy really. We’re retired yet there doesn’t seem enough hours in the day.

If I did have a go though then I really like the idea of incorporating some London Underground trains into a layout. It would be great fun, but really I mustn’t get carried away!

I do like A4’s A3’s etc, but my ultimate railway model would be the Settle to Carlisle, ideally in 7 mm but I would need an aircraft hangar to fit everything in:face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I have been collecting 7mm diesels to build a small Scottish favour layout, but since Christmas, things have had to take a back seat.

You really don’t need a massive amount of space to build a layout, especially now that revolution models have released this 1938 stock Archives - Revolution Trains

Lovely idea….and a great area to visit as well. Good luck with the Scottish project, 7mm is a great scale if you have room.

I started to build this about two years ago in the garage but I was never happy with the layout so when a spare bedroom became available I started again and began rebuilding it then the loss of my sister knocked me back so last weekend after about 10 months I opened the door and sat there looking at it I have now started to build again slowly but the interest is finally coming back I now hope I can at least make a start on building the model i started out on
