Nait 50 is my favourite sound wise but as far as looks I’d probably go with my first one, the CB Nait 2.

They all look great but to me the olive Nait looks best. The smaller knobs,lit up Naim, manages to look old yet modern at same time.
Assume you own all of them?

Thanks davidf. Yes, I own all of them. I got the CB Nait 2 first about 25 years ago, Nait 1 came in a trade for a pair of Dynaudio Emit 10’s a few years ago, bought the Nait 50 2nd hand a last summer and added the Olive one last week. Been looking for a nice Olive forever, this one has been recapped 4 years ago and in NM condition.

I propose a collective noun: a Kipling.
As I mentioned in the post the Nait 50 is my favourite as far as sound goes. Soundstage and instrument separation is a step higher and I’d say it has a more modern “HiFi “sound. I could live with any of them though, they all can boogie.

Thank you LindsayM, reminds me to bring out the tripod more often.
I like this one as it has the more greenish face as opposed to the brownish versions I’ve seen.

My brain knows that I made the right decision in passing on that amp (I have a Nait 50 for those who don’t know). But my heart hurts lol as it was one the I wanted right from its release. Funny enough I bought a demo Nait 1 because I couldn’t afford the olive Nait 2 and that was my first “real” amp and my entry into Naim. It replaced my Techniques receiver with my Rega Planer 3 and it was like someone had removed the heavy curtains that were hanging in front of my speaker. I could hear Sade breath when I played her records!
I also think the Nait 2 olive is the best looking one however that CB2 is growing on me. Sandy, while they might not fit the collection I think considering the price they are going for you should look to adding a Nait 3 or 3R to the stable.

The Nait 3 was the current Nait when I first got interested in Naim thanks to John at HiFi Centre all those years ago. By the time I saved up the first Nait 5 was released so I ended up getting that one of those which I really liked at the time. I’ve still always had a thing for those 3’s though, and if a nice remote version showed up I’m sure I’d be tempted!

it’s funny how similar our paths were. When the Nait 3 came out they made the big push to the slimline and everyone was upgrading. By the time I had the $ to upgrade the Nait 3R was just about to be released and it was said that there was a sonic improvement from the 3. I sold my Nait 1 to a friend then bought the 3R and CD3.5. Actually maybe it was the 3.5 that was sonically better…
Anyways that lasted for many years till I moved to the Nait 5i and CD5. Then CDX2. Then Uniti. Then Atom with LP12 Majik. And now the 50 with the Atom/LP12 as sources. Almost a full circle

Excellent photos @Sandy8, there is of course one shoebox Nait missing from your wonderful collection, the rare olive Nait 2 CD version

There’s also the early red LED NAIT with smooth edge volume knob, and final green LED NAIT with the scalloped edge volume knob. Of course volume knobs and LEDs are often changed, so difficult to know what’s what without a serial number.
