The Z5II with an amazingly convenient 28mm. Still learning after all these years.

Beautiful M10 and a legendary lens… After selling my M11 in search of a more automated experience, I learned that with the additional automation, part of the soul of photography was lost for me. I recently re-acquired an M and been really happy with it since… poorer but (hopefully) wiser.

Actually it’s an M10-R, I walked into my local dealer to buy an M11, but within minutes of handling both, I just couldn’t put down the R, and bought it immediately. (You likely know all the same reasons).

Agree with you about the changed soul with the M11 onwards.

Sorry that’s not what I meant! To me the M10 and M11 are about the same camera, it’s just that the 11 got a better sensor, battery and screen - at the cost of an overactive shutter mechanism.

I’ve recently been having fun with my 13 year old Pentax MX1, it’s only 12 mega pixels, but it has a useful mode where I can shoot in B&W, makes a huge difference for me actually seeing B&W instead of thinking in B&W and shooting in colour. I’m sure, however that probably most new mirrorless cameras could do this but I haven’t worked out how to do it on mine.

I agree, essential.

I really liked the black version, which showed some brassing with a bit of age..

I got mine in whilst living in Canada the first week it came out and all I could get was the silver one. It is quite a little gem of a camera and I see the used prices are much more than I paid for it.

Tim.

Not my camera or lenses, this might interest some here.

Not so much to show yet, but after procrastinating for years I’ve bought a d’lux 8. I’ve just gone to a shop and asked the guy to explain me how the machine works and it’s superb. The camera can mostly be controlled by buttons and dials and that’s what an old guy like me needs. Also the viewfinder has diopter which makes it easier to compensate for my slightly degrading eyesight.

very much looking forward to use on more than just holidays what I do now.

After a period of frustration with Leica’s rangefinders and trying various alternatives I’m back, a bit wiser and poorer.

And…What do you think?

Do you mind me asking “but wot is it”

Answer : A Leica M10 or 11

It’s an M11-P, whereas the M10-P has a ‘front focus button’.

Thank you, I was a bit confused as I thought Leicas often had a small red Leica badge on the front

Fooled me too. The little red badge is so iconic.

I’ve been careful to use it on a daily basis for the last three months before posting here. Based on that, I’d say it comes closest to how I like to take pictures. Not for airshows, obviously (BTW RIAT lineup starting to look promising, Sanicole spectacular including flying Me262).

Correct (although that button doesn’t focus of course on either camera). It has a few bells and whistles over the regular M11 including tougher LCD panel (crystal glass), more internal memory and the omission of the red dot (not that that would fool anyone).

Ah, Air Shows- would love to go but my sensory overload issues of both people and noise …
