As noted, I did the firmware update and did a factory reset, which certainly seemed to help, if not fix it completely. Then took it off to SE26 intending to “annoy” the parakeets in Daughter#2’s garden.
Not a bl00dy one! Cats, squirrels, fox…..but no parakeets. So I went out with the RF28mm to the Brunel museum in Rotherhithe and then over to the Maritime museum in Greenwich.
Need to get out to Titchfield Haven this week.
Hoping to hear of good results with birds in flight.
(Always struck me as massively difficult subjects.)

As a regular at TH, I have innumerable shots of Black Headed Gulls on the ground 
And the EF500 is a bit hefty to swing around as if I was a 20 year old body builder (instead of being a 72 year old fat slob!)

Found a great deal on the X2D 100C . The newer X2D 2 has better autofocus (and a few other improvements) but I usually shoot manual focus.

A novelty but I think may be quite fun. It’s the ’Pro’ version of a screen-less digital camera, aimed at kids going to Camp in the U.S. that have screen bans.
Like a digital version of a disposable point and click, only keepable. Limited user variables are flash settings (off, ‘selfie’ and ‘group’) and filters (standard, 1, 2 and b&w).
No immediate checking of your screen post shot. And a bit cheaper than an M11-D for same experience.
Looks metal, isn’t. Straight through plastic viewfinder. Teeny tiny sensor.
Might stick a level on it as the plastic viewfinder is quite distorted. This may be amplified by my varifocals but that would also help with shooting from the waist, being so light it’s hard to judge if it’s level…
Which I work out to be about f/16, so everything is in focus, sort of.
Will, I think, need bright and sunny day to give its best.
Kind of neat that you can build your own filter and download it to the camera if you do want a different sooc rendering.
Though I quite like the standard and b&w. Even in low light.
In a way, it is a digital form of Lomography. 
I really like it. It reminds me of my Konica 35.
