Sennheiser HD700, Audeze Deckard headphone amp, fed by homemade RPI Moode based transport.
Many thanks for that. I will investigate further. Isolation is normally not a problem but i’d like a bit of extra isolation from external noise when using them at work in an open plan office.
James
It’s not just added isolation. I never felt the supplied tips - apart the tri-flange ones - offered any comfort. With the custom ones I could keep them in for an entire long-haul flight - or indeed wear them with no audio to get some proper sleep.
Also so much easier to just slip in your ears with no meddling to get a seal. They’re a bit bulky as they are a “full-shell” design. 530/530 ones were a half-shell so less so. But once you’re tried them, there’s no going back.
The Music in Her Eyes.
This was my electronica days.
Like the wallpaper, I have that as a feature in the bedroom
Thanks, so do we. That’s my bedroom Headphone system
It seems to me that KUMA and I are a minority here.
After many, many hours of listening to a variety of headphones, I settled on the GRADO GS 1000.
The combination of these headphones with the fantastic HEADLINE is fantastic.
@Cooky
Dear Sir, is the mezes notiably better with the Headline?
Thinking seriously in this specific combo…
it sounds rather good if no where near burnt in (meze recomend 40 hours ) but from the first cd i played haven’t taken them off admittedly the grados Ive had for years and years were only sr80s these have shone them a clean set of heels they are a little bit dearer but well worth the money and some.
Also really good looking and very comfortable a bargain in my eyes. these are the first audio component i have bought blind so glad i did.buy with confidence
Good to know, I was thinking of getting the GS-3000e’s for use with my HL2 but I won’t be able to demo, so a little apprehensive about buying sight unseen. I used to have the RS1i’s though, so am hoping that it would be a similar but slightly warmer sound with a deeper bass.
they certainly have deep bass also very dynamic and a pretty good sound stage for a closed back design which i needed with the wife working from home and myself furloughed.
Hi James
I’m just thinking about getting serious about headphone listening. How do you find the above?
What is your source for them?
Thanks
Seth - MaxiMe
Hi Seth - I really enjoy this combination and bought the Mytek in preference to the Hugo TT2 and DAVE when i went on the hunt for something a bit more permanent than my 1Z for a bedroom system. For the source I use Roon so i have a Roon Nucleus which manages my locally stored music and Qobuz (recently moved to this from Tidal). This serves various endpoints in the house. For my headphone system, i already had the superb little Project Stream Box so just needed a USB capable DAC. The Stream Box acts as a Roon endpoint and connects to the Brooklyn via USB. If i didn’t have the Stream Box then i’d have gone the Brooklyn Bridge route which is effectively the DAC+ with a Network card (and Roon endpoint capabilities).
James
Nice to hear a Grado owner likes them, as I’ve been considering these. Givea me a frame of reference.
Obviously, this is a personal taste.
But when you hear a variety of reference-level headphones from Various manufacturers, you can come to a conclusion, what’s right for you and what’s less.
Gardo also produce excellent headphones at a value-for-money level
Small favor to ask: could members also state the model of headphone and/or amp along with the pictures? Some of us don’t know what they are just by looking. I’m in the market and it would be helpful. Thanks, Charles
Does the stand come with the headphones?
