Lovely set up
Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to post pics on here so far. Itâs been a revelation to see so many great systems on a variety of units. As has been pointed out above, you can easily see the enjoyment many people are getting from their set up.
Welcome to @Gazmondo @Falsounds and @Tex. You may be long time lurkers or new to the forum - either way - itâs great to see you posting on here. Likewise to those who havenât posted for a while, @Kevin @fc4nido @SheffieldTyke @Nick2000 @seanf @RvdG; thank you for taking the time to show us your set up. Thanks to the regulars on here too; youâve made this a very interesting thread. ![]()
Great thread, very enjoyable. From chaos to perfection; canât decide which end of the spectrum I enjoy the most!
Hi Jase70 - whats the support under your LP12? Is it as good as a wall mount? I have suspended floors but no way will get to put a wall mount up.. tx Lars
Hi Lars. The support is an Isoacoustics Zazen II.
Very good result so far. Definitely helps with bass control.
USM Haller, we have several throughout the house. My Planar 3 normally sits on the top shelf and all other boxes stacked where the vinyl sits now. Bottom part are 2 CD drawers. I decided to order 2 extra compartments to double the size of the USM so hifi will have more space and I can add more vinyl which is now all in the next room. Following a tip I received on the listening positions thread, I ordered an anti-vibration top shelf from Betonart Audio in Germany where the Rega will go. Iâll put the Supernait next to it and the rest of the boxes behind a door so I have two compartments for vinyl.
Then my Rega had to leave for repairs (cable issue, third time with 2 different Regaâs, still a fanboy) and I decided to put the Supernait and the Volumio Rivo streamer on the top shelf, already add some vinyl and store all the other boxes until the second part of the USM arrives.
That gave me the idea to add back all the fun bits one by one so I can re-assess what they did for my sound. So over the next weeks I will add power cables / filter, nDAC, 2 x PS, Chord BNC cable and NEO PSU and see if I can reconfirm the upgrades the way I remember them to be.
First conclusion: naked SN1 + Rivo over internal dac is already wonderful. Sure, it lacks some refinement and bass definition but I happily listen to it for hours and wouldnât miss all the other stuff if I didnât know it existed. It has everything that made me love Naim, and the prospect of making it even better without spending any money is putting a smile on my face.
Saw this on Etsy and had the guy make one to my specs. Not expensive. Does the job and, most importantly, it received Mrs Stu63âs seal of approval.
USM again. Bought 2nd hand.
The New Order poster is an original from 1983.
In my case the two connected USM low board units are 115 cm wide each. They look great but are not ideal for storing LPs because there are no vertical separators. Certain LP boxes (those without a top) fit in to the shelf but limit the amount of vinyl you can store.
By the looks of that we used the same guy to make us a bespoke tv unit. Likewise we were very pleased with it and it has drawn favourable comments from visitors.
Hi there, I love the setup, but the poster even more so. I have this original Factory Records Hacienda second birthday poster above my system. I had it valued a few years ago and was told itâs worth several thousand pounds. The first birthday poster is even rarer and worth a lot more. From the looks of your one, I would say itâs also quite the collectors item!
Many of the set-ups here look fantastic. However I canât help but feel puzzlement at some of the very expensive systems that will simply not be delivering anywhere near their optimum performance by virtue of not being on a proper dedicated hi-fi rack. Spending huge amounts of money on top class components and then placing them on something that will severely degrade their performance just doesnât make sense to me. Obviously itâs personal choice and to some people maybe appearance is more important or at least as important as performance - but then why not buy cheaper equipment rather than wasting money on something that you wonât get the best out of? Just my way of thinking and obviously the posters here donât agree. It takes all sortsâŚâŚ
really?
Iâm sorry but I simply disagree, as do many on here with the statement âseverely degrading performance". Thatâs not my experience at all. Not one single bit. Everyone has their opinion, but I do not find dedicated hifi racks to have that level of improvement. Letâs not take this rather excellent thread off track though, itâs about celebrating systems on dedicated living room furniture ![]()
PS. speaker stands yes, hifi racks no.
PPS. Suggest any discussion on the benefits of racks takes place in the âFraim, is it worth it?â thread
Fair enough and I understand. Each to their own. I can only speak from my own experience, which, it has to be said, is shared by very many others. Obviously if you simply donât hear a worthwhile improvement from a dedicated rack then thereâs no point for you.
Just as an aside, I believe there is one hi-fi manufacturer that always demonstrates their equipment at shows on ordinary furniture rather than dedicated racks as they believe racks can alter the sound unnaturally. I can see some logic in this - trouble is if you extrapolate it then you can apply it equally to cables, speaker stands etc. etc. and experience has told me that specialist stands and cables etc. do make very worthwhile improvements rather than making things more unnatural.
There are really some great looking setups in this thread. Iâm inspired.
Achtung baby .. super good album . I believe records sound real good âŚ.. streaming part sucks.. very soft and sound quality bad. Sigh .. one of my fav album from U2 .
Iâd agree with this (and I have a fraim lite, but hidden in a Victorian cupboard)
I hear comments that a good system disappears and all you hear is the music. I think incorporating systems into homes via furniture is simply an extension of that
Homemade scaffold shelves arenât as charismatic as many on here but the Nova seems happy enough. The 1984 Monitor Audios arenât doing so bad either. There is more air above the speakers than the photo showsâŚ
Like that
