KTM 1190 Adventure, I’ve had it for 10 years and absolutely love it.

Hi Pete,
KTM wasn’t even on my radar at first. I had an ’06 BMW K1200S that had just ticked over 100,000 km (not all mine), when the dreaded ABS warning light decided to show its ugly face. The local BMW dealer wanted nothing to do with fixing it they said their mechanics wouldn’t touch the job, even though I was happy to pay the $6,000 repair bill ($5,000 of that just in parts!). that’s more than the bike’s worth nuts, I know but I absolutely loved that machine.
Anyway, I just couldn’t find a touring bike that really replaced the K1200S. Bit like Naim Audio in that way. I looked at a few Ducati Multistrada 1200s, but the cost just didn’t stack up. The 950s were nice too, but didn’t quite have enough curry to squeal my wheels.
The Japanese bikes, reliable as they are, didn’t quite cut it either I’m a big bloke, and I couldn’t even fit on a Hayabusa without taking a contortionist course at the local polytech. The Kawasaki H2 SE would’ve been brilliant, but I could only stretch to a secondhand one… and who really wants to buy a secondhand rocket?
In the end, the Super Duke does the job very nicely.
Feels like a dirt bike for the road.

That said… my monthly fuel bill is getting a bit shocking!

The Superduke GT is a lovely bike, it was released just after I bought mine so I would definitely have tried both. I actually looked at a 3 year old one last year to go alongside my Adventure but the insurance quote was insane which is just how it is living in London I suppose.

I’ll be glad when manufacturers get over the insect/transformer look and get back to building stylish motos.

24 years old, had from new, but being a fair weather rider, it doesn’t get much use. I chose it because my grandad had a red triumph, and always loved it

I just ordered this Neiman Marcus, after some glasses of scotch.

Looked at it for curiosity. Don’t bother, it will be my only post,

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder :joy:. KTM may not be the most beautiful, some are quirkier than others but they are so much fun to ride..!!

KTM used to make less ugly DS bikes. It’s all been downhill since the 950.

Great looking bike, I had the 950 supermoto with the same wonderful carbed engine.

It’s a historic bike one that Meoni made famous.

I’m on my third. I prefer the SE for the riding I’m doing.

Nothing beats the 950 with Akrapovics. 75 degree v-twin goodness.

It sounded lovely, sometimes even better on the overrun going down the gears, coughing and spluttering. That rawness is missing these days.

This was mine a Suzuki GS750. I bought it in 1977 , I was 23 years old at the time. The ones with eagle eyes will see the VEL reads 77.

Edit: The Fiamm horns weren’t standard, I fitted those myself, there’s one on t’other side.

Edit 2 : 12/18 months later Suzuki added a second disc to the front brake.

Still currently enjoying my Tiger 900 GT Pro 2024. I do have one eye on the new 1200 GT Explorer though…

Lovely, i bought the gs850 shaft in 1979, that was a wonderful tourer. I fully restored a 78 ga750 in 2011 it was really a nice bike too.

It was a lovely bike, I remember it cost £1245 which I had on HP. I even had to pay for the insurance spread over 12 months.
Didn’t they also do a GS1100?

Alas, I sold it a few years later to gather together money for deposit on a house. I was getting married. The bikes long gone so’s that wife

Beautiful bike. Reminds me of my first legitimate street bike. A 77 KZ 750. Big coffee can cylinder twin. I always pined for the KZ900 though. Wish I could find my pics of that bike.
