Those last two words, “I think”, cast a degree of doubt on the assertion that you’ve reached the end!! That can be risky to the wallet.

Cartridges are the only fluid component now Clive…:face_with_peeking_eye:

I believe you (whilst remembering how many times I thought that!).

Play some Rush, sit back with a coffee and enjoy!

In all honesty, all of the next level upgrades (Keel, Ekos SE, Tangerine’s etc) are high cost for diminishing returns. I truly am happy to stop here.
I will also maintain the ceilings on Cartridge prices. Even with inevitable price increases, we will stay at £2k max on mine & £1k max on hers.
Now, as suggested, I’m going to sit back with a Coffee, some RUSH on vinyl and continue Ripping CD’s to the Core. So far 62 in and only RUSH and Dream Theater done

I know what you mean about diminishing returns, but once heard these upgrades cannot be unheard :hear_no_evil_monkey:

How often will you backup the Core during the loading process? When I started the ripping process back in 2013, I had an NS01, which was set to take weekly backups. Now I have a Core and only backup every few months or so to catch recent CD purchases. If you were to backup every 100 or so, the Core only tops up the backup with added rips. In other words it doesn’t do the whole lot each time.

Yeah, my new Toshiba backup drive arrived yesterday. I’ll probably run my first backup later today. I’ll be at about 100 at that point👍🏼

What would you start with? I’d probably go either Moving Pictures or Power Windows for a good warm up.

Which is why I’m never going to demo another bit of LP12 kit, with the exception of Cartridges🤣

That is an awesome looking deck, congratulations.

Here it is in situ complete with original (& completely unmarked) smoked lid.

I have always preferred the smoked lid & have never been tempted to change to the transparent one. I always play LP’s with the lid on & closed. I have never been able to hear any difference with the lid on or off. The lid hinges still work as they did when new, 44 years ago.

I have also never polished the top plate or platter. I have occasionally cleaned finger marks off with a little WD40 sprayed onto a duster.

Like yours, I have upgraded it to a level that, I think, matches the rest of my system. I am not convinced that any further upgrades, which would probably be expensive, would be that noticeable without an amplifier upgrade. I am sure upgrades would show a noticeable improvement in a better system (200/300/500/Statement level) but am equally convinced my current deck would not disgrace itself in any of these systems.

I like the unobtrusive look of my system, especially the Nova, as it is & any further amp upgrade is out of the question until Naim finally introduce the ‘SuperNova’ with improved streaming & pre-amp modules. My smallish sitting room does not really need any more power so I don’t think a Nova PE would do anything for me. I am happy with what I have got but do live in hope of a SuperNova!

Good man. It’s good to say enough is enough. What you have is more than good enough.

Enough said :muscle:

Thank you, we’ve come a long way in a comparatively short period of time.
The journey started on the 1st October 2022, just 27 months to get here. A few speed bumps along the way, but all worth it in the end😊

You’re Linn LP12 is above Selekt level with Radikal 2. I think that you will be more than happy with where you are. You could easily go to the top but its diminishing returns upwards.

You have 2 beautiful LP12 decks very well balanced.

I was very happy with Ekos 2, Karousel, Kore, Dynavector XX2Mk11, Lingo 1, Tom Evans Groove+MRX phono stage.

What I have now is no doubt better. However, what I had was more than good enough.

It depends on budget and how far you are prepared to go.

I think you have achieved a very sweet spot.

You can always change out later. That’s the beauty of an LP12.

That’s what I said but the move from Ittok LVIII to Javelin was an ‘itch’ and what a difference. Now I’m really hearing the benefit of the 52 with it.
I feel extremely privileged to have managed to get one, really, really good, so…never say never :joy:
Enjoy the changes :+1:
