Yes…
I still have these on my LP12, my 250 and one Hicap.

This is still on the back of my old rega planar 3 bought from sound advice in Mosley Birmingham 1983 with a large chunk of my annual student grant. I sold it to a friend and it is still giving loyal service to this very day. Unlike LP12’s there is little potential for the whole Triggers broom thing- only thing changed has been the cartridge/stylus and the wheel on the motor needed to be re glued as came loose. Incredible value ……
Nice…
Your stand looks to be similar to mine (which is a Sound Factory Tripod)… but not the same…
Just oiling my Fluted Plinth…
Plinth and bearing changes in the new year. Along with new cart and arm lead. Lingo 1 needs to go to Darren first.
DV10x5 will probably be replaced with either the same or a 20x2
Phonosophie. Fraim would be better but these are not bad…
Interesting… From what I can see, it is very similar to the SF Tripods… Very.
Only the ‘pointy’ leg tops are clearly different. SF are ‘flat’.
Is there a way of brightening up the exterior of the platter (the bit you see going round) that’s acceptable to Linn?
Mine is quite marked, which I find aesthetically unpleasing. I have bought the white cotton gloves to avoid marking it with fingerprints, but how do I get rid of what’s already there?
T Cut would seem to be a possibility, but does that affect the Mazak alloy?
On the previous forum there was much discussion of polishing the platter. I think it has a varnish that needs removing first.
I don’t think it’s an officially approved process and once you remove the varnish it will eventually tarnish.
The outer platter was not part of the cirkus upgrade. It is noticeably degraded the coating since buying the turntable in 1985 but just leave as is. Doesn’t really bother me much. A new outer platter is not that expensive but decided in the end not to bother.
For a minute there, I thought your Linn had its’ own toilet roll!
Wickes’ finest !
The lacquer coating breaks down over time and a blotchy appearance is the early signs of some surface corrosion. You can slow the process by waxing (car wax will do fine) and this may help restore the tarnished surface as well as sealing it. If it’s starting to show signs of surface pitting then it’s time to think about stripping, polishing and sealing. But otherwise leave it to mature gracefully.
Phonosophie was cheaper than Naim fraim. I think fraim is better but more expensive. Someone I know locally also used phonosophie racks so I decided to go the cheaper route… The good thing about it is that it is modular like fraim and provides decoupling. It is possibly a bit more easier to manage than fraim stacks.
I’m reasonably happy with it. It is a decent rack
Thanks, I’ll give car wax a try.
Calling out to Linn Sondek owners. Been interested on getting me an LP12 but the range of them is impossible for me to get a grip on. I found one with following specs and wonder if it’s decent in getting started with LP12? Where is it compared to say Rega P8 (I’ve owned one but couldn’t stand the foam and tiny size of it)
1900 GBP (long time Linn dealer)
New in late 2020
Cirkus kit + Sub chassie from 2015, Near mint.
Majik tonearm SA-250ST (Jelco) from 2017, Near mint.
New lid and original cartons included. No 45rpm ability but can short term be managed with an adapter.
You can quickly spend a small fortune which I have the last year, I would recommend going to a good dealer and hearing the options and decide what level you would like to end up with and understand the best path to get to this goal.
You should also be able to compare a LP12 to a Rega, so my advice is not to rush in. I let others advice if it’s a good deal but a good setup is key, so if this is coming from a private sale I would be careful.
Simple question. Are you prepared to pay £1900 for this…?
Reads like a decent spec - but only around Majik level, I think…?
Which I think is £3,450 currently…?
