Lovely Peter, certainly one to savour!

I’m very jealous, and wish I had known about it to try to get one at the time.

I see that there’s no backplate as such. Is that fixed (or even hidden) somewhere else on the plinth?

Great cartridge I have a brand new one here that I no longer have a use for, such a shame.

Hang on to it, as you never know what may be around the corner.

Yes might not be a bad idea

No, Graham the serial No and person’s info who assembled it is below the hinge back plate on the motor side

Well, I see it now that you point it out, but the usual thing covers most of the back of the plinth. Thank you.

Order is in for the following upgrades:

Magik sub-chassis → Keel
Jelco arm → Ekos SE
Lingo 4 → Radikal2 (Akurate box)
Standard plinth → fluted plinth

The compromise is the cartridge, but the dealer has a low hours ex-demo Kandid for a good price so it’s that vs something from DV etc

The ekstatic gives me something still to aim for in future

Congrats. Not too much of a compromise…
A whack on the wallet, but you already know that marvellous music awaits!

That’s a big upgrade in one step, I am sure it will make you very happy. Enjoy!

Thats a huge amount to do - all at once…

Holy moly. Big step up. You’re sure to be a happy customer after that lot. I did Kore to Keel, Mose to Akurate Radikal and DV XX2 to Kandid at the same time and that was transformative.

I’ve been fortunate to have some old whisky that I’m happy to sell so have the funds available. It is a big step at once, but wanted to get in before the price increase!

The side by side demo was beyond helpful in understanding what each component adds so there is very little risk that the money spent doesn’t bring a decent uplift.

Now I just have to wait!

I think I can guess where you’re having the work done…

The way you have rebuilt some LP12s (akin to Trigger’s broom) I’m sure your name should be added

I suppose its like on a car. If the engine has to come out, might as well do the clutch and engine mounts and all its belts… :sunglasses:

Pretty sure I could never afford to do so much - I’m just aiming for a Core subchassis for mine next (which will be used). Fortunately, Fluted Plinths were standard, no cost, back in 1981… Included in the £340 price. And an Ittok was only £253, a few years later…

Yes, probably not a surprise in terms of dealer! I like his approach to just letting your ears decide what works best for you.

Had a bit of extended fun comparing my A7s to the new B&W 800s… and the results weren’t quite as you’d expect, but that’s another story/thread!

A former Linn dealer, in Loughborough used to stick small custom made labels on most things he sold. They are still on some of my units, including my LP12.

@Cymbiosis might consider doing similarly, perhaps…?
