The soft camera brush is what I ended up using, thanks for that.

I read somewhere (a HiFi magazine I think) a few years ago; that Rega chose felt as it was the best material for decoupling from the platter. Cork, rubber etc are not as good for this. Some turntable manufacturers have a different perspective on coupling and decoupling. For example I understand that Michelle donā€™t like mats at all, preferring the direct contact with the platter. I am not sufficiently expert in this hobby so Iā€™m open to good ideas but for the time being have stuck with the stock mat.

Herbieā€™s does not recommend the standard ā€œWay Excellent II Turntable Matā€ for ceramic platters, they have a different mat called ā€œGrungebuster Turntable Matā€ for ceramic platters like in RP7/9/10, which one did you tried?

That doesnā€™t sound like itā€™s promising Nirvana either.

That would make sense. Itā€™s the Way Excellent. As I say, it works pretty well on the Thorens.

From memory and not necessarily in this otder it was:
Gerrard 301
Thorens 160
Lenco 75
AR XA (or something like that)
Rega 300
Pioneer something or other belt drive
Technics 1200
Transcription (pre Michel but more or less the same).
Linn lp12
Brinkmann, forget which

And as above a Planar 10 under the cover.

Iā€™d have though the original EMT 948 should have been in there judging by how much used ones go for.

One note on stylus cleaningā€”Mr Clean Magic Eraser cut into rectangles. Best thing for cleaning the diamond Iā€™ve used.
