Fortunately I have a MM cart :sunglasses:. I suppose I could run a Stageline off the 552, but the Rega Fono is well regarded nonetheless.

I read that carbon fibre brushes are actually bad for records and cause groove damage. Velvet or natural hair brushes being preferred.

Nice. Is that a XV-1s or a XV-1t. Looks like the S. I just retired a XV-1s. Itā€™s still in very useable condition but I upgraded.

I have a secret desire to upgrade my TT to a Clearaudio Innovation Compact (in piano black) with a 12" Universal arm, keeping my current 9" Universal arm for the XV-1s, for more casual use.

The Exact is a better match with the Rega Phono

Superline and supercap Dr probably set you back say $15k

Might be able to pick both of them up used though

Is the SCDR currently discounted in NZ ? It is over here

Not discounted at the moment. You may recall that I had a SCDR in an olive case, very nice it was. There is a used Superline on the market - unsold for a long time now. Anyway, sticking until either a big stock recovery or inheritance. I have to tie the family over on part time work until the pension kicks in, in 8 years :flushed:

Yes I like that pension model in NZ

Can still get the pension and have a full time job if one desires ?

Is that correct ?

Naturally pay tax on the full time job but it makes sense from govt revenue raising point of view

Itā€™s such a good upgrade Mike and you just wonder why did I put up with the old motor for so long. Being able to switch the speed with a button feels like luxury! I have auth for a new turntable this year but there is too much choiceā€¦I would love an LP12, or a low/mid range Vertere, or a Rega P10, but Iā€™m going to wait and see how much they want for a Naia in Australia. On dust, I use a micro brush, or you could turn off the light and it will disappear.

Itā€™s great to see that the ex naim distributor for AUS/NZ is now the Linn NZ distributor

Hope he does well with the brand

Yes, that is correct. You are taxed on your total income, so could end up in a higher tax bracket. If itā€™s like that in 8 years time when I turn 65 is anyoneā€™s guess, but Iā€™m close enough not to be concerned about the retirement age changing to affect me.

I hope thatā€™s not true, as Iā€™ve been using it for well over 20 years now!

I have a Carbon brush like that and a LP Soft Dusting Brush to remove the residual dust after.
Very effective.

I read it, but that doesnā€™t necessarily make it true.

But it has made me wary non the less.

Iā€™ve been using one for over twenty years, and have never had a problem, And my records are definitely cleaner than they would be, if I didnā€™t use it.

Thanks for letting me know. Another diversion avoided.

Iā€™ve used these dry for over 40 years just use like the brush then a tilt and no dust line.
Donā€™t use the fluid though. :+1:t2:

There is a trick to avoiding the dust line, easier to demonstrate than describe, essentially after a couple of rotations, twist your hand so that you rotate the cleaner about the inner point, counterclockwise and takes the outer end over the label, then lift it from the record.

PS the Chord cable for the connection between the Neo box and the turntable has been released in the UK, another boostā€¦

I have been using this for about forty years, and I am fully satisfied.

No 16 rpm rules it out for meā€¦

Seriously, what was 16 rpm for & has anyone got any 16 rpm media?
