No wonder it didn’t sound like a LP12.

DG…

Yesterday I learned that the MG-1 belt could be inside out and upside down from a video on the Vertere website. It turns out that mine was indeed inside out, though I’m not sure if it was upside down. Remarkably with both changes I was able to identify audible preference as suggested by Touraj in the video. It now sounds even more wonderfuller than it did before. If you have an Vertere TT it may be worth checking out the videos. They are on the MG-1 product page, but don’t seem to appear on the DG or SG pages. I also learned a technique for putting the belt on, which I’ve previously dreaded. Now I take it off and put it back on just for fun

P3 with Elys2 vs ND5 is already a big improvement…

Elys 1 or 2 was not great. Sounds like nd5 is an improvement.

I think this is true of the older belts as one side is shiny. I recently had my SG1 serviced and the new belt had the same finish both sides. Neither side has a shiny finish.

I’m jealous of your Imperium

hiya Khan, I couldn’t see a difference between the two surfaces on my belt either. In the video Touraj talks about the belt having a slightly greater diameter on the outer surface than inner one. So if you dangle the belt and it is inside out, as mine was, it shows signs of being under stress. Head on, the sides distort inwards slightly and it distorts sideways very slightly and fidgets a little from side to side. If you dangle rightside in, then it is nice and relaxed into a rounded pear shape and it doesn’t distort to the side or fidget.

Once established as rightside in, then you see if it’s right side up by performing listening tests..

I’m convinced I heard a benefit.. It might be worth a try.

I do like the Imperium, though I’ve got nothing to compare it to. I did think it made a impressive difference when it was swapped in at North West HiFi show. At the time I was thinking of ordering my MG-1, which I thought this was a mixed blessing.

This one’s for @JonathanG
If you can use a shot of the bellows feet conversion Max was offering for the Rock 2 for a while, though you’ll have to put up with the atypical arm and no trough. My Artemis had just packed up so I revived the Rock for a while and thought I’d try the Schröder on it.

Thanks Yeti, how interesting - I hadn’t seen those feet before! Your pic is I think sadly a little late to be incorporated into the article (which due to its length and depth has nearly given my editor a nervous breakdown!) but I would strongly recommend joining the Rock users Facebook group and posting on there.

Many thanks,

JonathanG
