That’s a bit of a beaut Jamie!

I used to own a Michell Syncro and upgraded to the Gyrodec about 3 years ago. There was a massive jump in sound quality. Last year I upgraded the tonearm from the RB250 to the Michell Tecnoarm which was again a huge improvement. Using an Audio Technica at150mlx MM cartridge and a Rothwell Rialto phono stage. The whole setup sounds rather good even if I do say so myself! In time, I’ll probably convert to a Gyro, upgrade to the HR power supply and maybe even install an SME tonearm.

My Syncro posted above already has a RB808 and DV20X2L. I’m very tempted by a Gyrodec when funds permit so it is good to hear you say you noticed a massive jump in sound quality because the Syncro sounds mighty fine to my ears. Gyrodec, Rega Planar 10 or LP12 will be the ones I’m looking at but the Michell turntables just look so good

Also have a look at Clearaudio , very good and don’t get the publicity or all the raves they deserve on this forum.

Not because they are bad, far from it , just in this country Rega are very dominant for non-suspended decks

Yes, the Syncro is a fantastic sounding (and looking) turntable so I was surprised that the improvement with the Gyrodec was as big as it was. The RB808 is a nice tonearm and would be worth keeping if you upgrade to a Gyro - that should save you a few quid!

Keeping the RB808 and Dynavector is certainly the plan if I do upgrade to a Gyro

Thanks Ivo, I was also able to source the loudspeakers of my first system - Pioneer HPM-60

The only thing missing is my CT-F500 cassette deck but I’m keeping my eyes open!

 My sister is still using her PL-516D 40 years later (same as your former 512D with an automatic return function)

I already posted my TT above, but I always like this photo of my cartridge (DV XV-1s on Clearaudio Universal arm), so I’ll add it.

Nice all Pioneer setup, Claud :ok_hand:
And you have a dedicated stands for your speakers as well.
I have a CT-F 700 which will match your system quite well. You could check also this deck.

Note the clear acrylic base I added to the black plinth.

Naim went onto copy this concept when they produced to MUSO’s :grinning:

Agree - loved my Axis/K9 - did it have an original Akito or a Basik?

Wish I’d never part exchanged it when I got the LP12.

The Axis had very nice build quality and just worked with little fuss.

Why is no one else’s equipment covered in dust???

My picture was when it was fresh out of the box, dust hadn’t yet built up that all important protective layer.

This is a generic photo of my parents’ now long-gone Akords Stereo Russian TT (circa 1982-86) that provided countless hours of happy listening; also used as an amp for my Walkman. Did not know better: music sounded amazing.

34 years later analog source is back; I managed to get hold of a Technics SL-1200 GAE with the limited edition 4-digit serial number that matches my postal code - it was meant to be

If it isn’t black the dust doesn’t show up so much, and don’t use a flash to take the picture.
