Yeah it’s a great cable. There is no way I can go back to the bjc cat6a on the last leg of my Ethernet chain.
The Gamma has improved literally every aspect of the sound without exception. I have never experienced sound that felt more like a live performance before. Listening to Kind of Blue last night sounded so so REAL! Aural heaven!
So, yes I’m impressed and highly recommend it. A wonderful upgrade for (a modest) 350gbp…
I wonder which cable would give me the biggest upgrade : Shunyata Alpha X DIN / RCA or CHORD Music DIN / RCA.
My next upgrade would be Shunyata Sigma ethernet and one of the above. ( 1k less for Alpha X).
I don’t believe Shunyata makes Naim compatible DIN cables or? Ansuz do and Chord do. I’ve seen a guy on here that claimed Ansuz cables sounded better than Chord Music in his system.
You can always modify the termination of a cable.
But yes, Anzus, why not. But does it have an organic, smooth, and quick presentation ?
Which model?
I feel, even if Anzus are very well rated, they tend to be very expensive.
I’m not sure a cable can be both smooth and quick. Smooth to me means bit diffused and coasy. Not speed and PRaT. They are in my book the opposite to each other. I don’t target smooth presentation at least. I want realism and that is what Ansuz provide better than any cable I’ve tried so far. I have not tried Chord Music though but Chord Sarum T. I agree they are expensive new like Chord Music and higher Shunyata series but I rarely buy anything new and used prices don’t move that much. The only Shunyata cable I’ve tried was the Venom ethernet and I sent it back withing a week. It lacked the flow and airiness my then Entreq cable had.
It’s difficult here to find such a cable and try, here.
I know a Shunyata dealer, Noir et Blanc in Belgium. He can do 14 days trial and return. I can try RCA to RCA , and if I am pleased, ask for Din modification.
Chord Music, I would have to buy it and probably no return. At least with my dealer.
But I am sure I will like it, I have the signature for now.
Fine -
I’ve to hear that. There is some magical naturalness with the shunyata cable (sigma and omega I have heared). I had a quick test against diamond a few weeks back and sigma won in a split second. @frenchrooster I love to hear your thoughts as you are very much diamond tuned. A wonderful cable with more power … but … big but!
I have also heared one, who claimed that omega is better than chord music .
Must try ansuz some day!
I heared ansuz on 2 hifi shows. The presentation is extremely fast and powerful but for my ears a bit too much tending towards „hifi“.
You have tannoys and non dr amps - this might be a complete different story! And you have an nds and no avik electronics.
And you mentioned that nd555 would be too much for your system - think I agree. @frenchrooster has ear amps and so shunyata could be be too calm - but I do not think.
Is sigma calmer than diamond - yes. Less fast, but with massive prat and a special magic in the mids (textures) which makes the listening experience very special - it hits you emotionally - very like Naim virtues.
I use a Chord Signature RCA to 5Pin DIN with great results - very smooth but detailed. Guess the Chord Music would be better still but try and listen to the Signature and save some money.
@frenchrooster
Please test the shunyata sigma (with return window). Love to hear your thoughts!
I am really happy that the shunyata distributor is 10 min away and I know them and I can demo all of it
Once in pole position
For now it’s just a wish and wondering. Funds not ready at the moment. But in the near future or even before….
I have just bought something else recently, for the good mood and better disposal for listening to music :
If you like the Signature, you’ll love what the Music does. It’s smooth in the sense that it makes digital sound more analogue but is incredibly informative and extremely quick.
I really don’t understand how an ethernet cable, beyond meeting compliance requirements, can have such a significant impact on how we perceive an audio signal. Analogue interconnects yes, but ethernet?
@GraemeH at the risk of sounding evangelical, you have a wonderful system that I could only dream about. To use a chord c-stream Ethernet cable between your EE8 and your 333 is IMO holding back the true potential of your system.
I have seen the light and it costs just £350 with a 30 day return policy
